MJT finished bodies?

I wouldn’t be concerned about the grain line. Word is that the finish would shrink over the years, exposing such things (still, I’d prefer it not be there). I think that is under spray on the horn, or they accidentally buffed through. Do you have a white undercoat?
Overall, I’d be pleased with the results, but I wouldn’t be 100%.

i like the grain showing. they discussed visible grain at the beginning of the project. it's an alder body so i didn't expect or need visible grain but they like to keep the paint thin so i wasn't surprised to see it.
they accidentally buffed through the underside of the top horn the first time around. that's what i rejected. that's a dumb place for wood to be exposed when the rest of the body is clean. the project manager even suggested they could relic the rest to match. ugh. i requested a closet clean and the project manager suggests that. that made me feel even more that they weren't paying attention.

My jazz bass body is complete. I think it looks good from what I can tell in the pics. I’ve included the color reference (the guitar) that I sent in. I think it’s about as close to the same color as anyone could get.
Here it is. It looks wildly different depending on the light. It borders Sherwood Green and Lake Placid that has been aged. It turned out well.
nice! i like the way lake placid blue ages.
can you take pictures in the sunlight too? i’d like to see how it looks under different light.
did you have overspray or orange peel?
How many mjt customers feel the color they asked for was faithfully replicated?
Mine was real close. I’d say they did a fine job, and it is about as close as I could hope for. It’s near impossible to photograph this bass without the color changing on me. It’s gray, green, or blue depending on the lighting.

Just got pictures from my PM yesterday.
I had a hankering for a Jazz Bass.
I emailed MJT to see if they have any Jazz basses "in progress". They sent me pictures of this body.
They normally don't post many Jazz basses in their Ebay store, but certainly have been lately.
So 3 weeks, and got exactly what I want.
Kinda makes up for the extra 7 weeks on my last 2 projects
I had a hankering for a Jazz Bass.

Yeah it can definitely be a bit of a chameleon, but the darker blue in the studio pic is definitely an optical illusion. It’s never really that dark.
My first bass ever is my 71 P bass, and now my last bass purchased and built is MJT body plus parts.
I love the body - but it took way too long to get. Their schedule said 16 weeks, but it took over 20 weeks.
But all that said - it is a nice body. I had them make it closet classic. I put 60's style stuff on it - 60's bridge, anodized pick plate and with covers. However, it has new Geezers on it. And I put a Brad Lowe 32 conversion neck on. With flats it is a great bass at last.

Wow! Mine seemed like 2 months-ish if memory serves me. Maybe it got done quicker because it was for a custom builder. All I know is that I put a deposit down on my build, and the entire bass was done head of schedule which made it hard for me to pay it off at the time lol.
