MJT finished bodies?

I have 2 MJT bodies, one I found locally on craigslist, nitro sunburst with nice cracked finish & the other found here on TB, it was nitro black, but I stripped it & had repainted.
Both great quality & just what I needed.

Although the price ratio doesn't match in your scenario, yes, it's just another finish choice. No better or worse and any other's choice.

Definitely worth the wait and the expense is very reasonable. They made a superb 2 tone sunburst from their Wildwood supplier, and I sent them my other body for a strip and refin.

my best bass is an MJT body with a USA fender neck. currently planning my second build with them. They do superior work.

Actually the ratio is totally irrelevant. It was what is called an analogy. And I wasn't passing judgement on anyone's choices. Whatever makes everyone happy.

I have 2 bodies from MJT. Both are ash and both are light weight (just as I asked for). My 1960 was also there for paint. If you want nitro, they are the "go to" guys. I have a '73 body that will be in their hands next week. These guys are just great and so easy to deal with.
The bodies come from Wildwood and are really nice.

I have had 2 but found the neck pocket screw holes do not match up with standard Fender type necks, they are a good few millimetres out.

I used a blank Warmoth neck so was able to drill the matching holes no problem, but if you're using an existing neck you may find you have to plug the neck's original holes and redrill again.

The bodies are not always 2 centre joined pieces of wood (a pet peeve) and the Jazz Pickup routing is much deeper than usual which means very long pickup screws are necessary.

Customer service though was exemplary.

My standard Fender necks fit perfectly. One original '71 and one CIJ neck. See my bass-build links above. And the bodies were what some suppliers call "select" and charge a premium. No up-charge from MJT. Nice light-weight ash.

Your P bass in "British Racing Green" and tort is gorgeous. I've always fancied a bass in that finish.

ive bought two of their bodies. the first was a surf green that i must say wasnt the exact color i thought it was going to be, but ive grown to love it. its kind of a bright glow in the dark looking green. i love the feel of it so much with a well worn narrow ‘77 neck i have. its my favorite bass to play. it just sounds and feels perfect. the second i got was a fiesta red that i did all wiring and sheilding and drilled all the holes but never checked the neck pocket first ... and when i finally tried to put a 70’s fender neck on there the screw holes were WAY off. like a half inch. i didn’t feel like i should have to modify a brand new body so i sent it back and waited a few more months for a replacement. on both the color is kind of a heinz katsup. i may sell that one if anyone’s interested. all in all they were nice to deal with but i wouldnt say the colors are spot on if what you’re looking for is a 100% indistinguishable-from-a-vintage-fender-body body.

I had them finish a warmoth neck and body and was really happy. Were I to do it again, I'd definitely consider their bodies. I believe they are sourced from someone in the US, and frankly, it's probably hard to screw up a fender style body once you have the CNC template. The one advantage of going warmoth is that if you buy from the in stock page, you know what you are getting weight wise. I'm not sure if MJT will let you spec a weight on a body

If you really want a MJT body, watch their ebay options. Fair number of P and Jazz bodies in different colors. You can ask for the weight if it's not listed.

The weight can always be seen in some of the pictures of the neck pocket.
Here's a current body, for example. This one is 4 pounds 11 ounces. One heads-up, however: This weight is the body before painting. Always figure on it being a couple of ounces more after paint.

Last week the MJT precision body with PJ config and the neck arrived. One tuner broke off during shipping, but mjt replaced it immediately, just have to wait a bit longer. so here's a crappy photo after i put everything together:

specs: lightweight swamp ash body, musikraft roasted quartersawn maple neck 44mm width medium c profile 6105 stainless steel frets, sherwood green over 3-tone sunburst medium relic finish, matching headstock. the cracking is not really recognizable on the photo, but it looks awesome.

installed nordstrand PJ pickups (NP4 Splitcoil / N4JSE Noiseless Singlecoil), stacked knob (V/T + V/T + 3-way toggle switch), hipshot kickass bridge. tuners are schallers, gold andonized pickguard.

The neck is one of the nicest necks i've ever played, setup was spot-on right out of the box.

the bass resonates very nice, very even across the fingerboard, it just turned out very nice. i am happy (but then, of course, i am still in the honey moon phase, haha)

will do better fotos when all tuners are on.
