MLB 2018

Mets 8 - Marlins 6
Red Sox 14 - The New York team whose name I shall never utter (known in my house as the "y" Team) - 1

Well, at least my day is off to a good start!

Go Sox!!!!

Man, the bats are on FIRE!

The only thing about that game that made me a little nervous was that Judge finally got a bead on Sale. Until last night Judge was O for 12 against Sale. But last night he hit everything Sale had, including a homer with a hang time of about 2 1/2 days.

Other than that, the Sox DOMINATES on both offense and defense. Hit after hit. Acrobatic defense.

Keep in mind, Bogaerts is out for a couple of weeks.... he was the hottest bat before his injury. And Pedroia is out for three more weeks. When those guys get back the team gets even deeper!

So far, this appears to be a special group. Everything is lining up. It's fun to watch.

You can't point to a single stand-out hero on this team. Everyone is coming through and contributing.

Did I mention....

GO SOX!

Mets are hot. Syndergaard, Matz, Harvey, deGrom and Wheeler all healthy, off season pickups working. Someone tell me it's still the Metsies, so I shouldn't get my hopes up.

They kept showing highlights from that game last night during the Sox Yanks game. That Mets game was a good game. They look pretty stout. They are the "other" 9-1 team.

Yes, us Mets fans are always waiting for the other shoe to drop (or a safe falling from the sky).

I feel you. A few years ago the Red Sox were #1 in the division and EIGTH GAMES OUT from #2 on September 1st. And het, they didn't make the playoffs. They collapsed. It was the furthest fall from grace in September in MLB history.

Now the question is: What are they going to do about the catching situation?

My guess is that unless something really juicy appears at the trading deadline, they will just keep d'Arnaud. Remember, he was the big chip in the Dickey deal. They are also pretty cheap considering the market they are in and the prices they charge.

@#$%@#%~ - no I didn't. I wasn't able to see the game last night. Plawecki is a decent backstop, but can't hit. And just when I was enjoying the season...
Yeah Tommy John Surgery but he wasn't much of a hitter either in comparison to Plawecki d'Arnaud had hit just .200/.250/.400 across 15 at-bats, and Invalid Link Removed (.158/.360/.211) and the Mets are still winning, so I am thinking their bats aren't playing much of a part at all in big picture anyway. As long as they can keep the momentum going and remain injury free I am hopeful. (although that shot Plawecki caught on hand last night was worryful at the time)

Goodbye?

Honestly, how much worse can he be? A whole season of this loser? Ugggggggg,

As a Red Sox fan, all I can say is that taking 2 of 3 from NYY is always nice. I liked that they were putting up a lot of runs (27 over the 3 games), and that they battled hard and came back in game 2 after being down 8-0 early, though still lost. Not to disappoint, the heated rivalry is alive and well, and clearly this Sox team has a bit more grit to them than last year's "soft" attitude.

But it's still very early. It would be nice to see Price ditch the turtle routine in big games, and if the Yankees don't clean up their act in the field, it'll be a long season for them. Jeez, they booted the ball around the diamond all three games. No doubt that Stanton/Judge/Sanchez will heat up eventually, and that's always a frightening thought, and they may win a bunch of games just on their hitting, regardless of the spotty pitching and fielding...at least the Yankees better hope so. Looking rough.

Braves visit Wrigley!
1:20p start here in the Mountain time zone.
Sorry, Greg...there’s only one thing I can do: sit in my truck, and listen to the game on Satellite radio, and

(Oh wait! That’s three things!)
⚾

Ha, no worries, Tom. Start time is listed for 1:20 Central on ESPN, by the way. Be advised, though, that they may not get all of this one in--65% chance of thunderstorms at 3 Central, going up to 70% at 4, and still a 60% chance at 5. And feels like temps in the low 40s--we had two days of spring, now the next few days are expected to be rainy and chilly. 90% chance of rain tomorrow!
