This reminds of of the Mets of my youth. Good starting pitching, good announcers, the rest sucks.
Paxton had an uncharacteristic lousy start, but the Mariners beat the Bosox anyway. I'm officially back on the bandwagon. That didn't take long. Only a half game back! World Series here we come! The Astros are on a crazy streak, but it won't last. I just know it.

Well crap. The Mariners blinked and the Astros didn't. But, my bandwagon's wheels haven't come off yet. The Astros have to go through a slump sometime or another. They aren't the Big Red Machine. Nobody can be, so that's that. Besides, if they win 116 games, they will get knocked out of the playoffs right away. There's precedent.

...not All of them, though it is kind of easy to cast a wide net in that direction...
No...I’m thinking specifically of the Yankees fan who plunks down hard earned money for a vintage, or throw back jersey with the numbers 2,3,4,5,7... and most recently I saw a guy wearing a Yankee jersey...must have cost near $100... and it had the #15 on the back...and then...the name MUNSON across the shoulders.
As much as I worshiped him when I was a kid, I understand that there are baseball fans...even casual Yankee ‘fans’ who wouldn’t know that Thurman Munson wore #15 for his entire...though sadly all too short...career with the Yankees.
My problem with this is...since teams started putting players’ names on the back of their jerseys...the White Sox did it first back in 1960...the Yankees; bound by ‘tradition’ (read:ego) have always refused, making the #15 jersey I saw this week look like a cheap knock off. IT IS NOT AN ACCURATE PORTRAYAL OF THE JERSEY...and I’m afraid that Yankee fans who don these abominations don’t understand that

they should stop you at the turnstiles as you try to enter The Cathedral, and subject you to extreme public ridicule, until you turn over your Stupid Pills, and your fan card.

I watched the Rockies bullpen totally screw the pooch this afternoon. With a 12-7 lead in the 7th, Shaw gets in for relief and promptly walks one and hits two, giving up two points. 12-9. Dangit, Shaw had an ERA of 6 going in! They could bring up someone from AA who could pitch better.
Then in the 9th, Davis - usually a good closer - CANNOT throw a freakin' strike!! He gets one out, then walks FOUR, including walking in TWO runs, and then gives up a 2-run double, losing the game 13-12. It was exactly like watching a train wreck in slow-mo.
That was the single worst meltdown I've ever seen in the last three innings of a game.
SO......It's time for my annual Rockies meme.

When I lived in NYC, I was a Mets fan. Nothing worse than Yankees fans. That's all.

As a life-long resident of the area, all I can say is Yankee fans are a unique breed. Yes, they are passionate, but tend to be privileged, and don't understand the team has been dealing from a stacked deck for close to a century.
I agree. I was looking for a throwback powder blue Brewer jersey, and all I could find were ones with the names on the back. It just looked wrong.
I don't like the yankees because the baseball "world" thinks they are the only team that matters.

Ah, here comes the annual losing streak. If they can keep it down to four games, there's hope. If it stretches into the patented Mariners 13 game mid-summer swoon, all is lost. The Astros are going for a 120 win season.

Haven't give up on the SFGiants yet. Bumgarner looked good yesterday. Probably some personnel changes right around the corner too. Still plenty of baseball left to enjoy.
