MLB 2018

The Cobra. Yeah, he was awesome.
Some of my earliest baseball memories go back to Dave Parker. I remember when he left the Pirates and asking my uncle how that happened and why. He was a Pirate. Why did he leave?????
It wasn't till I got older (this is back in the day when ESPN showed SportsCenter a couple times per day and no one had cell phones) that I learned about the drug scandal which made me sad.

ESPN announced they are bringing A-Rod aboard for Sunday Night Baseball. I like the move.
I enjoyed listening to him on Fox during the post season. He has some great insights into the game.
Sure, he brings his share of controversy, but he's good on camera. It was weird though a few times when him and Pete Rose were sharing the screen.

I hope Edgar Martinez makes the Hall. DH has been around long enough that it shouldn't be an issue that he was a DH most of his career.

And then there's the current Mariners. Felix Hernandez, who may or may not age into a guileful pitcher, Robinson Cano and Nelson Cruz, who can't last forever, Kyle Seager, who may or may not be all that and a bag of chips, and some other guys.

Well, this sucks. Looks like I may be finally hanging up the cleats and retiring from baseball. Between breaking my finger last season, and falling and getting a concussion this winter, I guess age 52 is it. Will keep making bats and will umpire vintage baseball, but 5 years and maybe I'll enter the HOF...

If I buy a ticket.

Sincerely...I hope it doesn’t suck too hard, for too long.
At 52, I’m thinking you had a good run...and the Man (there was only One back in 1874, right?) In Blue, with a bowler hat and shirt sleeve garters, is the man who keeps it all on the rails.
Enjoy this next phase of your base ball career!

. Thanks, this is '86 - I'm wearing a suit, chest protector and mask (thin of the Bill Klem or Jocko Conlan photos you've seen). But yeah, just me. Still fun, but not nearly as fun as swinging a bat.

I'm trying to figure out why Jeter took this job/ownership. Seems like they just are not going to have the budget to build a winner. He's getting rid of young players, so I'm not sure what the long term goal is.

Can I guess?
Make himself some money. Clean up the roster (secret for cut the bottom line to improve our profits when we sell), build a 'team of the future', sell high, then take the Yankees job he really wants.
