MLB 2023

And the Mariners didn't. Three games back of Texas with a out 35 games to go. I will shut up now, for fear of jinxing them. Ah, no I won't. It sure will be fun for the next month and a half. Agony, of course, but the best kind.

The Brewers did what they could to help the Ms over the weekend. Hopefully they keep it up against the Twins.

@Gaolee - Your M's have really been on a roll lately! Not that long ago, it seemed like they may not factor into the WC race. Now they are in the third spot, they're playing really well, and the Jays are (just barely) on the outside looking in.

The last few weeks of the season are going to be exciting! Or heartbreaking  It will be more exciting if the Jays' hitters can change their approach and have a bit more luck w/ RISP...

Works for me. As of this afternoon, Seattle is a half game up on Texas. Of course, Texas hasn't played yet. It may be temporary. Final was 15-2 over the Royals. They are finally hitting. Julio did a bit of damage, but everyone else teed off this afternoon. It sure is good to see that happening. Maybe the ridiculous streak Rodriguez had a week or two ago has infected the whole team now. I hope so. Pitching is still good, to top it off. I am getting a bit more confident in them than history says is wise.

“ To reach 90 wins...
Mariners must go 16-16
Astros must go 16-14
Rangers must go 17-15
Blue Jays must go 19-12
At least one of those teams will miss playoffs. “

Not looking great right now for the Jays… Tough series loss this weekend against Cleveland. The loss yesterday was especially hard to watch. That was a winnable game. Ugh.

I think the Rangers were playing above their heads a bit in April and May. They’re playing closer to .500 ball across June-August. A 17-15 record to close out the season with 90 wins seems doable… but I am doubtful that they go on a hot streak and run away with the division. It’s going to be close, whichever team wins the ALW.

Whoever calculates percentage probability of getting into the playoffs still has Houston ahead of Seattle, and Seattle ahead of Texas. That ought to be a little motivation for Seattle and Texas, especially Seattle. The Mariners have an 8-2 record against the Astros so far this year. Seattle is winning in Houston for the first time in a very long time. The Mariners have to sweep the last seven games from Texas to have a winning record against the Rangers this season. I don't see that happening unless the Mariners end the season absolutely unconsciously hot and the Rangers fall apart completely.

Those clowns who got after Acuna should have to face some things.

I'm completely distracted by baseball for the time being. This season is turning into a lot more fun than it seemed like it would earlier on. The Mariners are actually hitting to go along with the pitching they have this season. I guess they were saving up their hits for the second half of the season. I sure hope they haven't used up all their pitching juju.

Listening to Mark Schlereth on Denver radio this AM...his opinion was that guys who pull what the Acuna fans did should first be tased, and when they can get up, shot in the face with bear spray. He's clearly not fond of fans pulling that crap. It has been well covered in Denver media.
