MLB 2024

Giant lost Jung Ho Lee for the season due to shoulder surgery. The good news is his replacement young Luis Matos is tearing it up at the plate. He had 7 RBi's today and the Giants beat the Rockies 14-4. Hoping he can make adjustments when opposing pitchers start making adjustments to pitch to him. So far, he looks pretty good, after 26 at bats he is hitting .385 with 17 RBI's. His defense in center field is really coming along too.
The Giants have won 3 in a row for the first time this year. Not convinced they can sustain this yet but winning 3 in a row is a lot better than losing 3 in a row.
Taking mrs. slo and the brother-in-law to the game tomorrow. Looking forward to it. Jordan Hicks on the mound.

Football is better on television, because of all the extra close up shots (nevermind it is probably an 8 hour ordeal). Basketball and hockey are better on television, because you can see the action better (although the live hockey atmosphere is great).

But nothing beats live baseball.

I sure like seeing all the replays and close ups you get on tv. Easily combining the two would be nice. Some stadiums don’t do replays and some only do those which benefit the home team.

More than once while at a game, I’ve searched for video of something that just happened in the stadium. An example was a fan interference issue that we in the stadium weren’t sure what happened because they don’t do replays in that stadium. It finally popped up online and we could see what happened. It was quite clear even the umpires didn’t know what happened when it happened at the outfield wall.

* The batter and umpires thought it was a home run. The outfielder got his glove over the wall but fell down very awkwardly and didn’t seem to have the ball. The initial reaction by all was home run and the outfielder got hurt. It turned out a young fan had pulled the ball out of his glove just after he caught it.

Have fun at the game! Edit: looks you already did. What a difference a week makes.

We’re going to the Ravine tomorrow night to see the Dodgers and the Snakes.

Don't get me wrong - I love live baseball; The whole experience.

But nothing beats good seats at a closely played NBA playoff game.

Unfortunately, there are very few good seats and they are insanely expensive. I just checked Stubhub. Floor seats in the corner for the Celtics game are above $10k, and loge seats near mid court are above $2.5k. I can't imagine what Knicks seats went for.

I saw Mets world series games, in pretty decent seats, a few years ago, for under $200.

It's amazing how much more expensive sports and concerts have become. We saw the final game (game 5) of the 2011 Western Conference Thunder-Mavericks finals; We weren't court-side, but we were top of 1st level halfway between mid court and goal - I don't think we spent more than $100 for two tickets.

SFGiant are having a promotion called 501 days. It is sponsored by Levi Strauss and named after their famous jeans. You can get bleacher or upper reserved seats for selected games at a cost of $5.01.
I also noticed prices change depending on who is in town. The seats i had yesterday are 3 times the price when the Dodgers are in town.

I need to look into that. We may just drive up for that.

Congress needs to adopt the EU rules. I’ll be dead before that happens.

My daughter is a flight attendant with a major airline. She is based in Boston. It was cheaper for her to fly to Paris, stay in a hotel for three nights, and see Taylor Swift there last week than to see the same show anywhere in the US. Just saying.

But Stubhub prices for what I'm sure is a sold-out event are outrageous. I'd bet the face value, while certainly pricey, is a lot lower.

Live or on the radio. There's no other sport I know of that is perfect for both extremes.

The Mariners won one in Baltimore, but it wasn't pretty there. Now they won the first in NY in unlikely manner. Gilbert got beat around but the Mariners came back with four in the top of the ninth. And then Munoz shut down the Yankees. That feels pretty good.

I am getting lazy in my old age and now prefer to watch the Dodger games in my living room on a big screen TV. I can pause the game, take a pee and grab a drink, rewind to see a play again, have the game commentated with interesting facts about a player and most of all I do not have to deal with traffic jams leaving the stadium parking lot plus the heavy freeway traffic on the way home. Just sayin.
