He averaged 3.78 pitches per batter while striking out 8 of 9. Wow.

Buster Olney did an extended interview with him recently and explored that very topic.
Apparently, even other pitchers are stunned at the lack of soreness and TLC he needs to give his arm in the normal discipline between starts.
Could be his arm angle & release point are more forgiving? And/or he's simply blessed with a very efficient biomechanical set up. A Nolan Ryan bit of good fortune.
Certainly fascinating to watch. Good for him.
