Modern B-15N options?

So what are the differences between the PF350/500/800? what will be closer to the B-15?

I've tracked down a B100R and will try to audition it this weekend also.

I have a PF500 in addition to my 'B-100R, and the B-100R gets the nod every time over the PF500 both for tone and perceived volume. I modded one of my PF cabs by adding rear ports like a B-100R and it got it closer, but the B-100R still wins.

does anyone know how an Ampeg B25B compares?

I had a B25B. It's a great sounding amp, but when you crank it up over 50% is becomes extremely distorted. It also only comes to life when using it through the right cabinet, which is monstrously big and weighs something like 250 lbs.

I have gone through the same exact thing you are right now. I had a B-15N, and it wasn't loud enough, so I traded it for a B25B. The B25 was too big, and also not loud enough. I now have a B-200R, and have never been happier.

V4B is an awesome tube head that is voiced sort of like a B-15. Only 100w but you never heard 100w smack down like that.

The only 100-watter that can bring it like a V4 is a Hiwatt DR103, and that is somewhat of a different animal, tonewise, than the Ampeg. The V4 is like a Hiwatt with some "give" and more breakup early on. The Traynor YBA-3 is also a 100-watt animal, and closer to the Ampeg's tone.
