Modulus Mob

Dear Mob as shown bellow i own a 2000 modulus Q5, although i almost decided trading it do to the narrow spacing of the strings., I now think i've come to peace with it. It makes finger style smother and faster and the slap just took a bit of time to get used to but i didn't miss a note last night. My question to you all is anyone here tried single coils on the Q5??? I know that the Seymore Duncan NYC's fit with out routing or filling anyone else know of any pups that i can throw in there. Barts are just too dark and well EMG's don't do it for me. I really just want that single coil grind that you get from a good set of j pups or nordy big singles.????

There should be some kind of law against sticking comic book cut outs on a bass...

^^^This

When I was in college there was a guy I knew who had cut out the Balrog from a Hildebrandt Brothers "Lord Of The Rings" painting and meticulously fit it to the lower bout of his Peavey T-40 bass. Now, that's clearly not quite as egregious a faux pas as bespoiling a Modulus, but still...exactly how pretentious does one have to be before they get their man-card revoked and are forced to live at home with their parents for life?

I did my first gig with my new to me Q5 Sweetspot yesterday..... I am VERY impressed as was my band.

I played the Modulus through my GK MB Fusion and a 115 Mesa cab (small room). It sounded killer.

I pulled out my Gibson Les Paul 5er for a set and my guitarist asked if I could switch back to the Modulus after 2 songs. It really cut and sounded much better than the Gibson.

I can't believe it took me over 25 years of playing to finally get a Modulus!

Why do you care?

What's confusing me is I thought The Punisher was a "good guy". Why is he punching out Spiderman?

Punisher debuted in The amazing spider-man in the 70's as a miss informed ally of the villain The Jackal. This was when spider-man was being blamed for the death of norman osborn. The issue resolves the conflict and he goes on to be used as an anti hero in several other spider-man and daredevil issues before becoming popular. The cut out is a copy of one of the pages off the first issue he appeared in.

Here's a real question..... Why do I LOVE my Q5 Sweetspot graphite neck but on the 100th NAMM Stingray I used to own, I absolutely hated the Status graphite neck.

Not tone.... Playability, feel, etc.

Am I nuts? Are Status and Modulus using different composites?

Just curious as I swore off graphite necks after I sold my Stingray, but my Modulus is just killer! I have owned many high end basses, but I can't believe how great Modulus basses play and sound.

Thx.

Hello Mob -

I'm considering buying this bass used: 2008 FB5-JJ, with Barts and 3-band EQ. It's got a few dings, otherwise in nice shape, very fast (but glossy) neck. I don't know a lot about these basses, other than what I've read here and in the 2012 Modulus catalog, which seems to offer just a 2-band EQ for the FU. Was the 3band EQ a custom option in 2008? Any other general comments / experiences / caveats? Estimated value?
Thanks!

Thanks!

I think it is a 1990. Serial starts with the numbers 90. Is that right?

Got it from JPATA. Used to belong to JPBIGGS who I have also traded with before. Both good guys.

The bass is a little roughed up on the body but hard to notice due to the finish.

The neck is pristine. I love it!

If you ever want to sell it, can I have first dibs back?? Haha I really miss that beast. Huge amounts of sellers remorse so you better be enjoying it!!!! :p
