Modulus Mob

It is a 35 inch scale and the strings are for a long scale bass. I have the same set on a 34 inch scale 24 frets bass and there was plenty of extra. The set i brough comes in ex long too so that kind of threw me off.

You need 37" of string before the taper or silk starts on your bass to clear the nut - the long scale DA Chromes have 36.5" before the silk starts. The correct set for a 35" scale is the super long set. You might get it to work by removing some of the silk but, you also might end up with the taper at the end of the E string sitting on the nut. I have a set of long scale Chromes I just measured and the taper on the E began just past the silk at right at 37". So, you might can just trim some silk and be ok. If ordering again, I'd go with SLs.

Edit: According to bassstringsonline.com, DA long scales are 36.25 rather than 36.5 as I thought.

Here's a nice guide on string lengths - Invalid Link Removed

Thank you for all the info and the site. I have been using guitar center for strings and I did not see super-long strings offered. More then likely my oversight. I did not get the strings yet so I guess I could just returned them unopened and order the super-long. Once again thanks.

You can also try bassstringsonline.com - I've found they actually have better prices than juststrings.com but YMMV. Also the bass strings online is run by a fellow TB'er who got tired of not being able to find strings just for bass, so started his own company. Not affiliated, just a happy customer for the last couple of years.

I'll mirror that, Jason is great!

So, after wanting a Modulus since the previous millenium, i ordered one tonight! Should be here before the weekend!
Can´t wait!

I usually don't like white basses, but that one is really nice looking! Love that pickguard.

*Question: has anyone here switched out their tuners to lighter-weight tuners?
If so, what model and brand did you go with?

The Q5 I recently acquired is really light. I am getting a tiny bit of neck dive that is driving me nuts, so I switched to a suede-backed strap, which I cannot stand.....any help is appreciated!

I've used Gotoh GB7 Lightweight Aluminum Sealed Tuning Machines from Invalid Link Removed. Which are pretty much a direct replacement, although the peg has more of a straight shaft. Not sure if these are lighter than the stock Modulus stamped versions, but may give you some ideas as to what you can use.

Those look like the exact tuners I already have, are you saying the Lightweight GB7s are lighter and are NOT the stock tuners?
