Modulus Mob

Those look like the exact tuners I already have, are you saying the Lightweight GB7s are lighter and are NOT the stock tuners?

They are definitely lighter than the stock tuners that come on Modulus basses. I don't have a scale, but I did a quick fulcrum test with four of these tuners on one side and four stock tuners on the other and the stock tuners almost launched the lighter ones off the other other end.

Sorry I don't have exact weights for you, but I was having a little neck dive one my FU4 and once I replaced the stock tuners with these, it went away.

Also, I think these are not actually GB7, but GB350 if I remember correctly - I think the site has them mislabeled. It's been a while since I ordered and replaced them, but remember seeing that the GB7 tuners are actually the ones with the Y shaped key. Like the ones shown [Invalid or Expired Link Removed].

Yep, those are the ones.

EDIT: BTW, when I was first looking for these I found them at Allparts and they were almost twice as much as Buzzards.

EDIT: Just found this thread: http://www.talkbass.com/forum/f18/gotoh-res-o-lites-cure-casady-neck-dive-979104/

That's a great price and with some gigs coming up this weekend, I'll be able to get a a set soon, nice. Thanks for all your help.

Another question: Does anyone know what size allen wrench the truss rod accepts?

My FU-J-5 or what ever you want to call it, arrived today!
Serial #08001.

First up i had to do some adjusting, action was like it was set up for Hellboy.

It´s got flaked up Elixir strings on it, still sounds awesome.
I think it is very, very versatile. From really honky bridgy sounds, that i love, to really mellow P-like sounds, but it still has that treble bite that I love with Modulus.

Bass is mint, I´d say, can´t have been played much.
Awesome KLD action throughout. Bart pickups, Bart 3-band.

I´ve been playing 4-string w 19mm spacing pretty much exclusively for the past 8 years, so the string spacing and general ergonomics were a bit off. Think I´m getting the hang of it now.
Talking about hang, the second most challenging aspect of the new bass, is that it hangs quite diffrently from my Lull m4v, i guess I will have to do some strap length research.

I´m more of a steel kinda guy.
DR have been my preference on the Spectors, Pedulla and Lulls, but they are hard to come by in my region of the world. And I feel I need something new now, since the Elixir´s fibres are sticking out of the strings.
Local shop carries Ernie Ball, think i´ll have a go with them first.

What strings do you like for your carbon-necked basses?

DR Sunbeams! When I got my Q6 in 1999 I went through just about every six string set available. They were the only ones that felt like the same bass from top to bottom and lasted more than a couple of sets.

Disclaimer: I am an endorser, but I don't get them for free.

So I took the Modulus on rehearsal today. It´s string spacing is giving me some pain in my picking hand, whitch seems to be kind of "balled up" somehow, compared to the 19 mm 4 string spacing I´m used to. Also, due to the larger upper horn, the bass gets positioned otherwise than what i´m used to. Will be trying out some other straps.

Also, spent a lot of time fiddling with the eq both on my bass and on the Eden Metro.
No doubt it sounds good, love that crisp attack in the high mids.
Extremely versatile, especially when panning between pickups.
Got to do some slow ballads and some rock tunes today.

Tomorrow she comes with me for Gospel rehearsal, and I´ll change the strings before that, i feel output/attack is lower soundwise below 5.fret on the E and A strings, hope this will change. I think the Elixirs are way past due.

Also, been wondering about pickup height, whats ideal for Bartolini J-style?

I have wanted a Q5 F for a looooooong time. Not many out there...if any

I stumble upon them once in awhile. Keep an eye on Ebay. There was 2 on ebay last month. Here's one w/ lines
