Modulus Mob

Showing some Modulus love last night in Boston at the Cantab Lounge:

Has anyone considered the option of a Geoff Gould bass since Modulus seems kaput ?

Geoff makes some beautiful basses but not many so they aren't always easy to find. There are only a handful of dealers who carry them. Bass Place in AZ, Music Unlimited in Monterey, CA, Music Works in El Cerrito, CA not sure where else in the States. He ships a fair amount of product to Japan.

Best way to keep in touch with what Geoff is up to is via his Facebook page.

Hey guys, I need some advice from you Modulus experts. I'm looking to replace the pots in my FU4 3 band. I recently had a replacement treble pot installed and it works perfectly, but the pot is a bit too easy to turn and is also split shaft, which means no matter how well I try to screw the knob on, its always a bit crooked. The stock bass and mid pots are also split shaft, but they have a larger diameter so the knobs all appear even. Do you guys have any suggestions as to the optimal solid shaft pots to install for this bass?

Thanks,
LB

The easy to turn thing is something that a lot of guitarists like. They love pots that you can turn with just concentrated thought instead of touching them! I find them OK for volume, but for EQ I'm not a fan.

As for the split shaft thing, the answer is to search the internet for split shaft to solid shaft knob adapters. They are little tiny pieces of brass tubing that fit over the split shaft. The knobs may still end up a tiny bit crooked but not nearly as bad as if you don't use them. I bought a bag of them for "just in case". Redid the knobs on a couple of my basses with them and they worked fine.

Thanks for the info. The treble pot also has slight movement downward into the guitar if lightly pressed (almost a bouncing type effect). Has anybody seen this before? Like I indicated before the treble pot works fine and work done by the repair shop was extremely clean and well done. I'm wondering if this is just an issue with the particular pot.
