Modulus Mob

You already posted a bunch of pictures that you took of it, and one of you holding it - where did it go?

Yeah I had it for a few days, but dropped it off at ATL Bass Gallery to have it completely setup to my liking. New strings, pup's heights adjusted, action lowered a hair. My fretless went it in as well.

When I get it back, it'll not just be my bass, it'll be MY BASS. Now riding up tomorrow morning. Can't ******* wait!!

When you get it, take measurements and then you can do all the work yourself in the future and not have to give it up!

Have fun!

Does anyone know of a serial number guide for Modulus? Or if there is any way to identify other than the first 2 digits what the Modulus is/was? I know when we used to call, Anderson had the records of all the basses with the original build spec's. I sure hope that some how that leaks out and it is not lost.

Hello everyone,
a friend has an issue with his Modulus Flea.
He swapped the pre to an Aguilar some times ago and would like to rollback to the original Bart NTBT.
He has no schematics though, would any Flea bass owner kindly send a photo of the wiring please ??
The PU is a Lane Poor MM 4/5 HB with Modulus logo, three wires, one red, one transparent a ground wire.
The pre is a Bartolini NBTB two bands.
Thanks everyone, really!

That was my plan! I'm going to make sure it's exactly how I want it before I leave the gallery. I don't think I'll be changing string type soon, either. I originally was going to do all of the setup myself, but I went to raise one of the pickups and it seemed like I was only moving the cover. Then I started having thoughts of that sharp Phillips head sliding out and gouging that purty Chechen....... off to the Gallery!!

Interesting. I think that it's impossible to just move the cover on those pickups as they are all one piece epoxied together. But no matter, it's always good to get it all set up right from the get go.

What strings are you going with?

I had Ken Smith Slicks on my Ibby 505 w/ Barts, and I'm stickin' with 'em. I got it to sound quite good. As soon as I plugged in the Q5, I could tell a huge difference in punch, even with rounds on. The thin Ibby neck just can't handle all of the extra tension. I have a great chest punch with a compressor but sustain was rough. Can't WAIT to see the Mod neck handle all the tension.

I played some coated strings recently that I loved, but I still think the magic for the sound I'm after (that Gordo so inspired) is still in the Ken Smith's.

Dirk, you're right. I float away in my own drool everytime I leave.

I have never used Ken Smith's. I have been using D'Addario XLs for the longest.
Travis, I am going to put a pause on the fearful build....I found am early 70s Ampeg Flatback cab last week and had to pick it up. Stripping it down now and should be ready to play in a few weeks depending on school.

I went to them wayyyyy long ago when I still didn't have my own spin on "my" tone and was trying to copy Mike's as much as possible. They go dead slowly. I was blown away when I put new ones on. Such a difference with fresh ones!

With a few knob changes, I've found my style. Very similar to Mike, with a little more twang in the highs. Sizzle, if you will.

Cool find on the cab! I'd love to see pics. My fearful build will probably be postponed as well... I GOTTA get the board done now that I've got a slight surplus of cash. It's been years now, and it's just so close!

A visual help would be better, if any fellow Flea owner is willing to give a helping hand.
Thanks a lot
