Modulus Mob

Sleepy monkey- chances are you have the typical 17mm spacing. Do you have the phenolic fingerboard? If so, how do you clean/maintain it? I saw the wd-40 post. Wasn't sure if it was a joke or not.

Ps- I dig on your user name......

Haha. Dead serious about the WD-40. It is mentioned somewhere in this thread that modulus cleaned the fretboard with it...,I tried it this weekend and it worked great.

I actually got tickets to see Panic on the Wood tour....they will be in Bham in March. I used to go to a TON of shows, but now don't hit too many. Dave Schools is the reason I bought a Modulus actually.

I am down to 2 panic shows and one phish show per year. I've too have been to a bunch of shows since '94. I have become quite the couch tour warrior though. Dave and Mike are the reason for my Modulus obsession as well. I finally scratched that itch a couple weeks ago. It has been everything I had hoped!

Nice Quantum, Rick! How would you personally describe the differences in tone between the pickups you have used in it? In particular, which Land Poors are those (new or old), and where did they come from? Also, what preamp are you running?

I had lane poors in my Q5 for about 15 mins. It was so hifi sounding and ultra clean that I didn't like it at all.

I did like them in my Carvin LB75.

The P/J set was a long time ago but I remember the J pickup soloed was very thin and not particularly usable. The DCs sounded good, but not as good as a Bartolini-equipped Q5 that I played in a store, I would have liked to put Bartolinis in but at the time it was nearly impossible to buy them in the aftermarket.

The Lane Poors are both Wide Aperture models. I don't remember the year that I bought them but I got them from Jack Read and he stopped building basses years ago. The preamp is a Lane Poor that is pretty rare. It is completely transparent to my ears. I have an active/passive pullswitch to bypass the preamp and I hear no difference at all except the sound is louder with the preamp on.

Brought out my 1998 Genesis 5 string for practice last night. Had my new Ampeg and thought it might sound good to give the new amp a workout with my Genesis..

On that note, I finally lucked out as well. Just picked up this funk for $1000, amazing deal. I couldn't be happier about it as I've been so close on a lot of sales for one of these lately. With all the money I saved, I have a complete makeover planned so stay tuned! :hyper:

Alright guys, I'll do the deed tomorrow.

Snow day here in Auburn, AL- two inches and all the schools close! Been meaning to take pics... but every time I pick her up, I can't stop playing.

Just bliss.

Pops snapped this one-
