Modulus Mob

Anyone know what it means when the finish turns cloudy on the back of the Genesis headstock? Or anywhere on the Genesis necks?

Is it the whole back of the headstock or just a patch?

Cloudiness could be due to de-lamination of the finish from the CF underneath. I only say this as when I first got my VJ, I was snaking a cable through my hand and the end accidentally dinged the side of the neck which caused the finish to lift and appeared cloudy. Luckily since it was so new (less than a week) Anderson felt bad and said if I paid for shipping they would repair the ding gratis.

Not saying this is definitely your situation, just thinking it sounded familiar as the only time I have seen this is when the finish is not securely bonded.

Bass is a 2004 and they (alien crop circles) showed up 2 years ago.

I called / emailed Modulus but y'all can guess where that got me.

If that is the case, you could call Pat Wilkins (he refinished both the body of my FU4 and the neck in satin) and used to supply the finishing materials to Modulus. He's a really nice chap, very helpful. You could ask if he might know what might be going on or if he's even heard of this happening. And if needed get it refinished - no association, just a fan of his work and he's pretty reasonable price-wise.

FYI - Nice new Quantum 5 with red/quilt body for $2200 at the La Mesa Guitar Center. I don't know if that is a deal or not...

If that's new, it's a deal. Used, not so much. Not sure the benefit of a 'new" modulus any more. My personal opinion with GC (and some other stores) is that if it didn't come out of the back still in the box, it's not new.

One of the GC's here in Chicago had 2 Q5's last year, a Sienna burst and a Black Cherry burst, wouldn't budge on the price of either and they were about 6 years old, but still "new". Haven't been by there in a few months, wonder if they're still there...

I have one or two of these little spots on the neck of my VJ. However, it hasn't spread and I can't feel it when I play. If it's that then it will survive and you will be fine.

Hey my Modulus friends. Years ago, someone told me of someone who specializes in graphite neck/guitar/bass work. He was located in Washington State if I remember correctly. Anyone know who that was? I think it was something like Gary something or another?? I am trying to hunt him down very soon and talk with him.

It has been there a while, so I guess I should call it "Guitar Center New!"

Plays and sounds nice, not scratches or dings that I could see...
