Modulus Mob

Yeah, it has a gorgeous top. I'm a sucker for natural finishes.

I don't know what preamp is in it, but can someone with experience with both Bartolinis and Lane Poors chime in?

How do they sound in a Modulus compared?

And is it possible to install a D-tuner without drilling extra holes in the headstock?

Honestly, it's not a world world of difference in the Barts and LPs. My fretless Q5 has an LP and EMG, and it's a good bit more "airy" if that makes sense, as opposed to the more focused growl of the Barts in my fretted Q5's. But definitely not the same low end and punch as the Barts.

And yes, you can do that w/out new holes. I think the Hipshot is what I've seen used most often.

Hey, man! So you're still enjoying that bass, eh? Glad to hear it! She was something special. Why another one? Are you going to get the same preamp to put it it? Give me more details, man! I miss that bass! :D

Cheers!

It's a fantastic bass, really special, I've ordered a fretless to go with it.

Steve Lawson saw it for the first time just before Christmas and fell in love with it.

Cool! A fretless will rock. ARe you going with the phenolic board, or a Chechen more like Steve's?

Steve answered a lot of my questions on the East pre over on the old Dude pit board. He was very helpful, and I've bought 3 East pre's since. It's cool to know that he's seen the instrument himself! I envy you for having access to him over there. He seems like he would be an excellent teacher and instructor, regardless of one's playing level.

I have an East with some Nordstrands in my VJ and it screams!!
I'm selling it because I have too many and something has to pay for other stuff.
just so happens that this is the one with the least use right now.
Sucks because I love that combo- J-Retro with the Nordstrands.
I HIGHLY reccomend that set up.

I know. I had a Sunburst VJ with Barts and a J-retro Deluxe. It was a very hot bass, albeit quite heavy with that large jazz body and graphite neck. But it was a stellar performer, and it slapped like a mofo. I would have loved to have kept it, but I couldn't justify holding on to it, being a casual player who gigs occasionally. In the end, I just wanted something else more and decided to sell her. The VJ is a phenominal gigging bass IMO. String intonation, tone, neck stability, etc. It never quit.

Can't believe I never looked to see if there was a Modulus club before now! Some of the pics are dark but here's my 96 Q6 Sweetspot Turbo with matched tint neck and Duncan pups. :bassist:
