I have never seen an early 80s Modulus that actually had that headstock. I thought they were all BassStars at that point?

It is like my VJ replacement neck. That is the Modulus Quantum P Neck.. Sold as a replacement neck for years!! Here it is listed on page 15 of one of their last catalogs

Yeah, judging from the logo and the KLD finish layer, it's probably a 1992 model neck, not an '82.
I really wish Modulus would have just sold direct. Skip the middle guys and sell to their real customers.....bassists. Seeing those neck prices reminded me of when I was searching for one. I got 4 quotes from Modulus dealers for the same neck anywhere from $600-1100. Really???

I must have gotten lucky. I bought my VJ neck directly from Anderson back in 1999.. I didn't know any better and just called them directly. However, I wonder if it was just because I was buying a neck only that they sold it to me direct.
Could be. When I ordered my Modulus bass in 1988 Geoff was pretty strict about me going through a dealer. He wouldn't take my money...and he wouldn't even let me order it through a "semi-un-authorized" local dealer (who had been stocking and selling Modulus basses, but apparently were violating a few too many conditions of the dealer agreement). I suspect things changed a lot when they moved from Folsom Street.
No experience with Auderes though I'm considering getting one for my SX 6. I do have experience with emgs though. I had installed an emg system in my old Aria Pro II and hated it. Finally sold the whote thing. My TBX has three Barts and I LOVE it! Later, there was a Q6 at music-go-round for about a grand. I tried it and himmed and hawed over it, but again I hated the EMGs on it. I finally just passed figuring that a Bart conversion would raise the price substantially. Well recently I just got a nice used Q6 off EBAY (I know no pictures no bass... so PRETEND I got it) with Barts that cost me two grand! Feh. But the tone is just out of this world (Though I sort of like the three pickup TBX tone just a tiny bit better). But main advantage is the wider string spacing on the Q6. I guess everybody likes what they like, but for me EMGs were never it.

The action is pretty low for me, and as a result it tends to sound a bit "clanky" if I get going on it. I'm trying to decide if I should raise the action (blasphemy!) or just start learning to "let the amp do the work!"
Haha yea action is super low on there and setup with very little relief. I like a little buzz in my sound, but raise it a hair and it will fade for the most part.

Actually, I'm kinda scared to look...because if I do find one I'll probably pay whatever they're asking
Never tried an Audere in a Modulus, but I do have a JZ3pro in one of my other basses, and all I can say is that it sounds incredible, has the widest tonal range I've ever heard, and that Audere has the best customer service I've ever experienced. Might be worth a try.

Quick update!
I haven't really got rid of the fret buzz but I have noticed some kind of buzz from inside the neck around the neck heel. It is there no matter which fret or string, it's even there when I play the 22nd fret, so it is not a fret buzz. Could it be a faulty truss rod? If it is, is it possible to fix it?

Could be a string buzz still. Just a different string.. Could be something in the bridge as well. I thought the truss rods in Mod's were graphite as well? Someone most certainly would know better than myself if they are metal or not
I have made sure that the other strings weren't vibrating...
How much will the neck move along with, let's say each 1/4 turn? I have loosened up the truss rod maybe like 1 1/2 turns and haven't experienced that much of a movement...
