hey if anyone needs a quantum case, just for protection, i have an extra now. It's from '96 and It's pretty thrashed on the outside but the inside is still fine and i'd be happy to part with it for a VERY low price. But just a heads up, it's got some of broken plastic off of the outside, but structurally it's still fine and does fully protect a quantum bass. so if you just need protection and don't mind a thrashed case, I'll let it go for basically "chicken feed" because i empathize with the plight of needing a case for one's moddy and i'd be happy to hook up my modulus community.

I figure if you're like me, something is better than nothing to hold your dear moddy tightly! PM me if you want. Gonna be first come first serve.

Thanks for remembering me, but I'm looking for a "keeper" case- not selling my q5 any time soon, just want a case for it.

And it was the skb 44 (and the 44 pro) that fit the Q5.

Anyone know what model that one on e-bay is with the triple pickups?

Looks totally custom but a variation of my early TBX with three barts. I can't quite see if it's neck-through or not. In spite of weird body shape (woods and knob/switch layout look similar to mine)
I think it's an incredible buy for any lefty. Apparently there were no bids. I'm not going to learn to play lefty just to get the bargain...

I have seen them before. Prior to TBX's. My Bassstar has the same pickups in it, but mine has only 2. I have seen these somewhere before with the triple pickup. More in line with the Alembic's.

With the strap buttons where they are, you could just flip it... the arm contour and the knobs would be the only give away... it actually looks like they just flipped the neck, since it's a 2+3 . The pink Q5 lefty that was on their earlier is a 3+2

Question for the mob: is this a legit Quantum 5? Or an older model maybe? The only reason I ask is because the pickups are much thinner then most of the Quantum 5s I've seen and the price is lower then most I've looked into as well. Thanks for any info. It's definitely a Modulus. The pickups on the early Moduli were far less standardized than they eventually became.

it's very legit. it's an '87 model. it's one of geoff's first lines of basses before the q5 we're all pretty much used to (longer neck profile into body, emg soapbars, etc.). you can contact geoff by his Facebook page. he might have more info on that particular bass.

Thanks for the info. I just thought it was odd. Owning a Q5 is on my bucket list but I just bought a Warwick, so now the saving process must begin again.

As I was playing my Genesis 5 (1997) fretless, I was noticing how square the body is. My Quantums are so round a sexy, but the Genesis is really very square bodied and kind of sharp edges?? Does anyone else notice this or do I have an unfinished finished Genesis. My 1998 Genesis Fretted doesn't seem to have as squared off of a body.

Yea it looks like a nice piece of figured walnut. Sweet find! I wish I could find local deals on moduli. Just doesn't seem too common... I'm in the market for a fretless.

My 2003 Genesis has a contour along the top edge of the body, like your '98 has. Basically a forearm contour that's extended towards the top horn and a little towards the bottom strap button. A much prettier version of a forearm contour, IMO.

Otherwise, yes, the edges around the rest of the body are more square than a lot of basses, - i.e. they're rounded, but with a smaller radius than a typical J or P bass.

there's a nice black cherry q5 in the conn. area. pre-adjustment rod mind you. 1996.
