Modulus Mob

He answered you better than me.

I don't do nickels or I'd try them- not a bad price.

My only thinking on why they're new is that they haven't been "Modulus Graphite" for a long time. Otherwise those strings are 15+ years old...

Looking at the packaging, that looks like the homepage of MG's website...

Ok so guys I have been having thoughts... Possibly bad thoughts that I should ignore and not actually entertain.

My q4 turbo is beautiful, rare and plays wonderfully. Plus I loaded it with top of the line electronics (nordy big splits and u-retro preamp). It sounds like the angriest carnivore of a bass I've ever heard, all by itself. No assistance from pedals necessary. Seriously it's tone is "tremble-in-fear" worthy.
It's really a thing of beauty although I still prefer the feel of my vj4. I've shown it here before... View media item 4102It's value is at about $2400-2500 after what I've put into it. (yes I'm aware is "worth" is dependent on what someone is willing to pay for it, but this is really what it seems to be worth in comparison to other items on the market and it's certainly worth this much to me)

But so... I've been wanting a q5 enough lately to consider trading this beast. I feel like I might regret doing so if I did it though. So... Would I be crazy for considering it? I feel like I might be out of my mind but I haven't had a 5 string in like 10 years and I really want one again and of course I don't want to f--- around, so there are only a few top notch brands I'd consider, primarily a quantum as my first choice.

What are your thoughts friends? Should I just suck it up and wait till the day I can afford to buy one? Am I crazy to even think about letting this thing go?

I probably am not right in the head :bag:....

If anyone should be interested in...
I would like to trade my almost mint 2004 Q5 bubinga top to a trans color (same specs of mine), black, sienna or blue with maple top.
I had a black one, sold it and still miss it like crazy.

So I took the rare traipse into Brooklyn to celebrate a former bandmate's birthday last night. We were meeting in a bar in Ditmas Park called Bar Chord that apparently has live jazz on a tiny stage
...and they also apparently have some guitars and basses hanging on the wall behind the bandstand that are for sale. This one caught my eye:

There was a note that said it's from 1990. They wanted $800.

Anyone know if there is a difference in the Modulus Quantum OHSCs for # of strings? There's one on the 'bay that is advertised as for a Q4, and I have a caseless Q5. Seller just opened it up to "best" offer, so i figured I'd give it a shot.

FWIW, I put my Q6 TBX in the Q5 ohsc for shipping when I traded it, and while the neck was a tight fit, it fit fine. I may have answered my own question.
