If it makes you feel better, I did the same thing on a Peavey Cirrus on the GC website last night. Even sent an email asking for more pics before I "saw" it was a 6 and not a 5.

i skimmed the description. it didn't hit me that the pic is of another bass.

so, to amend my post, please check in with the seller for exact pics of the bass for sale.
do not bid based on the current pic!

It's so stupid when people on EBAY put up pic's that are not the real deal and say that it looks just like this so take my word mentality just really eats me especially since this person doesn't have any positive comments yet.
Yeah I saw that last night. Not the real pick. Seller that created account yesterday. I tend to stay away from those...
just noticed the seller updated his/her listing with pics. looks clean. but, as @DeathDancer mentioned, they're a newbie (brand new account and no feedback) so buyer beware.
Yeah it not the 'at work, will post pics later' that concerns me too much though it makes it looked rushed. But the brand new account with 0 feedback for such a big ticket item is what concerns me. Lots of scams on eBay.
Well, I think I may sell my FU 5 MM/J. It's a great playing bass. I just would like to put the $ elsewhere. Really want a new Mac for recording. I mostly play my VJ and my P Bass now. So, it's very tempting. Somebody talk me out of it!!!
There is a really nice Q4 here on talk bass I almost bought . I offered $1900 , but the seller wanted $2300 and wouldn't budge . It's back up and he's asking the same price . Too bad I bought my Alembic , I really liked his blue Q4 !
I have no interest/benefit in that bass, but you would be covered by the ebay buyer's protection, right?

Speaking of ebay, the Garth Brooks Q5 is on there now. Same $10K asking price. "Irresistible collector's item." And the condition is "New Other"- for a 25 year old bass? I really hate that ebay has that as an option- it is so over (and mis-) used.
imo, the prettiest bass on evilbay isn't even listed in the 'bass' category but in the 'other string' category:

unfortunately, the asking price is over twice what i would pay. even with the 'best offer' option, don't think the seller would entertain what i would consider 'fair value'.
in regards to the garth brooks modulus:
1. if there are pics of garth playing the bass
2. if there is dna proof from a reputable source that it is him playing the bass
3. if there is provenance stating that this bass is on the up-and-up
i still wouldn't even entertain that price... :***:
a paul mccartney bass on the other hand...

Yep, that walnut Q5 is a beaut. Ironically, the seller describes it as "priced to sell." And I don't think it's supposed to be Garth Brooks' bass, but was used on some of his songs by Mike Chapman, who is a Nashville studio cat

Did anyone catch the video from Modulus on FB for the Q5?? Is it just me or does that sound like the worst Modulus ever?? Fret buzz, string noise, tinny, mid heavy, terrible player, rattling B string, buzzy G string and on and on.. If I would have seen this for my first Moddy, I would have never bought one. IMHO - TERRIBLE..
