Modulus Mob

I guess it is very subjective. The feel, the thickness, there is a board to back of neck thickness that I much prefer. Status and Moses necks seem to be more standard Fender necks. A little on the fat side. Also the compound radius of the Modulus has a nicer more comfortable feel to me

there's also a well-worn but very well priced '94 q5 ss on there. looks pretty cool, i must say.
that cat's been selling that bass for a very long time on c-list. iirc, their last offer was around $850. but that bass looks like it's been put thru the ringer. 'relic'-ing gone wild? :bag:

wonder what would be a 'fair' price since it would take a bit 'o elbow grease to bring it back to showroom-ready.

or do you keep it rough-and-tough?

I honestly keep my basses all pretty nice. I like them to look their best because most of them have fine figured top-woods and are real eye-catchers. But i think that if something i bought on the cheap came to me "reliced", abused, or just well-worn, i'd prolly just rock that look. I don't have any road-worn or reliced basses so i'd totally be down with one. I plan to eventually get a heavy reliced P-bass, or maybe just an actual vintage one with some nice wear-and-tear. I do dig the look (and feel) of a bass that's been around the block.

It doesnt look like it in the pictures, but my quantum turbo has some serious mojo. scuffing, dings, belt-rash, chipped poly finish along the fingerboard on the neck and on the headstock.
And it still looks great to me. I do try to keep it from accumulating anymore damage, though. prolly would do the same with whatever i got. Don't think it'd be worth it to me to buy a bass and then pay for a refinish just for looks.

I've always been cirious about the Q series of basses. What is the main difference between a same bass made with and without truss rods?

I've read the basses with truss rods have heavier and thicker necks. Is this true?

Thanks
I dunno about that but I bought one without a rod and the neck was better suited for shooting arrows and couldn't be fixed. Needless to say, I returned it.

That's because the phenolic fingerboard shrunk and pulled the neck inward, I've had adleast 10 Modulus basses that had truss rods and didn't have truss rods and the phenolic fingerboard on these instruments still shrunk and pulled the neck inward causing bowing, I've been a DIEHARD Modulus fanatic since 1992 but I gave up and bought a Zon Legacy Elite.
