Modulus Mob

Gorgeous bass! Man. That's what is all about!
Thanks! Also of note, I've been a 4 string player since I was a teenager- this was the first 5'er I ever immediately liked, the transition took me one week and I was good to go :)
Are there very many 5 knob Quantums out there? I haven't seen very many, just curious.

5 knob quantums are not super common. They usually only had that as an upgrade. So if someone opted for it, then it would be custom installed for an upcharge. Do you know what the preamp is?

You have a very cool bass man. Enjoy it.

What's the toggle switch for?
Thanks, it is indeed awesome! It has a Bartolini preamp- vol, blend, bass,mid,treble- also, the blend knob- when rotated toward the front pickup, actually controls the back pickup-and vice versa- I've read that some early Modulus Genesis basses were wired that way-
The toggle switch seems to be a mid- frequency selector switch, it gives it even more flexibility.

Cool. I've always thought the more elaborate 3-band bartolini preamps were sweet.

Eh, lol to me it sounds like whoever wired up the pickups just wired them backwards on accident. That causes the pan knob to function in reverse. I've done that a couple times. Definitely not the way it's supposed to be. It would drive me crazy.

Yes, I really like the preamp on this one- the bass sounds very nice solo, but where it shines is in a mix, it sits so well. I leave the blend knob midway, most of the time, and it's perfect.

All,

I've been ill with a sinus and ear infection and now a cold on top of it so I'm not keeping up on the thread much lately. Looks like there might be a couple new members. Anyone needing a # please PM me with links to the post with the Mod pics and I'll get a # for you.
Here's a couple of shots of my beauty. Had it for just over a week, one glorious gig under our belts, and this has been my dream GAS for over 20 years.

I have also seen this referred to a "wired like a Sadowsky", as apparently they set their blend knobs the "non-standard" way

I have a ~20yo Warmoth with EMG electronics that I got 2nd hand, it came w/ the Blend knob wired "backwards" also. And it came with the Blend as the forward-most pot in a 3-knob Jazz Bass configuration, with the Master Volume as the middle pot and stacked Bass/Treble in the rear-most position.

iow, someone had gotten deep into the catnip before wiring up this bass. :)

Actually, I've read that G.Gould wired some of the Modulus basses that way, (like Sadowsky wires his blend knobs), it works like a mid boost knob essentially. I leave it dead center most of the time anyhow. This bass has really grown on me, it's my favorite bass.
