Modulus Mob

Hi, I am Bubba. two sweet spots (one fretted and one fretless both with EMG;s ) thinking of adding a second pickup for versatility. Wanting a more traditional sound these days for some songs, Would you add a second pickup in front of or behind the sweetspot pickup. Any pickup recommendations? Thanks

If you want "traditional", then neck pickup is the way to go.

On Modulus basses, the traditional is to go behind the sweetspot making it a Turbo SS. Or in my case, someone removed the SS pickup and added a Neck and Bridge pickup

Formidable looking EMG WMD. What is it?
SOLD - YAMAHA BBN5 HEAVILY UPGRADED JPJ EMG!

it piqued my interest just thinking tonal possibilities.

also made me wonder with all the magnets pulling on the strings if there's anything negative that can happen tonally or maybe some kind of weird pull on the strings. mind you, i'm thinking three emg 40cs p/u's; so three dual coil pickups. i may be overthinking it but just one of the things that makes me go "hmmmm".

EDIT / UPDATE:

In Store Used Used Modulus M 92 Chrome Red Metallic Electric Bass Guitar

if anyone is looking for a "starter" modulus four-banger, here ya go. not a bad price (as long as there are no issues). love the candy apple red finish.

Nice bass. This one is still hanging out at GC as well: [Invalid or Expired Link Removed]
Is this a pre-Q5 from the mid-80's? I like the double J pickups and white finish. Don't know how it would sound, but the nice thing about GC is their 30-day return policy.

if you're looking at an 80's moddy, this one's also available:

Modulus Q5 1989

price is a bit on the high side. that blue tho...

there's an early lefty moddy on ebay now. i think this is the one that was up for grabs a while back that has the neck issues. the pics do look like the action is riding a bit high. darn shame, if it was cheap enough, i'd get it just for the body and save it for a future build.

I think if you look a couple of posts up, we were all commenting on that F hole Q5. Beautiful bass. I am very blessed with way too much debt at this time. Got to hold out.. Nickles cost too much for me right now! But man, I'm GASing right now for about 10 different basses

They are actually two different basses: The one Fred312b mentioned is Quilted Maple/Sunburst/Phenolic/Barts/SadowskyPre while the one on ebay is Bubinga/Red/Chechen/Barts/JohnEastPre.

The biggest difference (at least for me) is that first one is sold from Arizona while the other one is in England, so just around the corner :) Meaning there wouldn't be a whooping 20+% taxes and customs if I happened to pull the trigger on it...
