Speaking of Quantums: Did anyone notice the "matching graphite body" finish that Modulus seems to be offering? Very tasty IMHO

This is kind of what I always thinking that KLD model's were, except I think they were full body graphite.. But that still looks wicked
Sure looks like it. The neck plate with hex bolts is a good indicator of mid- to late-80s Modulus. Note, 5-string Modulus' of that era have very narrow string spacing.

I'm pretty sure the KLD finish basses only have it as a top, not the whole body.

Oh, hey guys. Just a heads up, I will soon be acquiring a beautiful '97 Q4 from a fellow TBer. I will probably hang on to it for a while but I plan to sell it, most likely. Obviously you guys here get first dibs. I know there are one or two guys in this thread that have been looking for a Q4 and I plan to let this one go for a very reasonable price.
Also, holy cow, did anyone see this? Looks like iriegnome's old bassstar. Except 4 strings and with Alembic electronics. Super sweet looking, but dang that price.

I had a short conversation with him in which he told me I knew nothing of neck thru basses and his was worth every bit of $7500!!! I wishes him good luck and that just about everyone I knew was looking at the bass thinking, nice bass but $6000 too high
Did you tell him that he knew nothing about how to cleanly install after-market electronics?
That bass would be far more appealing if those Alembic pickups were original equipment. Actually that bass would be most appealing if they just left the original Bartolinis in place. As it is it just looks like someone hacked up a sweet bass. Too bad. I love old Modulus one-offs, but that one's just a bit too off.

I believe that should have been a triple pickup Bart system. Nut on the bass is hammered and barely there by the G side. It is pretty horrible sometimes what people do to these works of art. But then again, most people only see them as a bass.. Sad really. The figuring in the graphite is amazing and being a Neck Thru 4 string bassstar makes it a super cool find otherwise
Kind of interesting, since he got it for $3k on another auction site only a week or so before posting it on Ebay...
That type of carbonfiber is probably what led to the development of KLD . If you get that off just a bit during the lay-up process( it looks like wet-lay-up and maybe vacuum bagging to me) someone will look at it sitting on a stand and freak out if it isn't perfectly straight, however with KLD,there is no way to put a straight egde up against it to see if it moved during the lay-up process.
OMG.. donk.. that is just awesome.. If you ever find any sort of those old pic's of my Bassstar, that would be oh so super cool!! I actually mean that.
