I agree (somewhat), I wish they did it from the factory. I love the idea of a passive bass but the tone doesn't do it for me 100% of the time and I more finicky than Morris the cat. (Old school reference).
How can it be any more of a pain than installing a non-quick-release battery box? Those are sourced as a single assembly; you just make the route the correct size, connect the wires, and screw it in.
Perhaps he meant installing any sort of separate battery box (rather than having the battery inside the electronics compartment) was a PIA?
He didn't elaborate but I agree with you, if it is set up properly it shouldn't be a big deal but he was not a fan of the separate battery box.
So, got me thinking about the whole battery box thingy and our beloved Moddys. I stumbled upon this beauty on Facebook.....if I was in the market for a new 5 string I think I'd get one of the G. Gould basses. At $ 4,000.00, it's a bargain.

I just bought 2 of them. A 1998 and a 2016. The older one's are more similar to the Mod Genesis and the newer one's are quantum esk. Very different though. Very unique and distinctly different than the Mod stuff. I love mine. Fun to play.
Pulled my VJ4 out for last nights show. Wow.. I had almost forgotten how much I love playing it. The neck is so super tiny compared to my 5'ers and even more tiny than my GGi5. Fun to play.. Going to hit her for 3 hours in Greenbay tonight for another fun time!

Yup. I did not remember that correctly. I just pulled up the old catalog. They were called Genesis 4 necks. I do stand corrected.. According to the catalog I found, this would be a Genesis J neck
Sweet. I'm sure it's awesome. I've never gotten a chance to try a genesis. I'd like to see how they compare to the full graphite necks. Anyone want to share their comparisons?
I have both. Much prefer the all graphite Quantums. Necks are both fantastic, but there is just something graphite. The Genesis models are not much different than every other bass neck and such. However, there is still that feeling of stability and strength. But has the warmth and feel of the wood. Mine is Alder, but my Genesis 5 string's are in Red and White Cedar. I do really love the redness of the red cedar.
since you boo-boo'd and called a genesis neck a vj4 neck, we're gonna have to revoke your charter membership here at the 'mob'.
you can regain membership by transcribing jaco's 'donna lee'... in 'e' double-flat... in tenor clef...
