More than $2k is even crazier especially if the thing is beat up like the blue Q6 currently on ebay. I can see $2-2500 for a newer quantum 4/5's with a trussrod in near mint condition Q6's seem to go for less do to being less popular. Non-trussrod quantums $1-1500 tops anything more and it really needs to be extra special. IMO

the moddy selection on fleabay is getting a bit thin. but the guitar neck has me intrigued. would like to get one for a very-much-down-the-road build to honor geddy:

the body is based on a quantum; just 'extended' to accommodate the second neck. the guitar side would have no pickups aside from piezos in the bridge so it can be strung up with acoustic strings. bass side would probably be a normal setup.

probably gonna need to keep my chiropractor on speed dial afterwards...

yeah, his moddy strat neck he sold before this one looked a bit beat up. this looks a bit more clean.

are you talking about that divot/chunk that was taken out of the edge on the treble side? looks like it got bonked pretty good against a cabinet or some other hazard to knock off that much. nice gig bag tho.

i'd be interested in the b-quad (modulus neck) in the classifieds but it's priced a bit on the high end. i always get a chuckle when 'rarity' can be used as a price factor. sometimes 'rare', to me, means 'it didn't sell in the first place coz there was little to no market'. but sellers have the option to shoot for the sky. 'it only takes one buyer'.

sorry for the ramble. nyquil is a hell of a drug...

Ones that are in really good condition and aren't "sweet spot" basses but have two pickups, that happen to be lane poors... Those will usually go north of $2k.

Guys, I am thinking of buying a used VJ 4 string and might want to have it set up, dress the frets, etc.. In my area there are not many luthiers / guitar techs that are familiar with Modulus and I am a little leery of having someone work on them (seeing how the frets are set into the graphite, etc..). Do you know of anyone who can dress the frets, plek the fb? Was wondering if Planet Bass (Tony) would do it now but not sure. Appreciate your feedback, Cheers.

I have said the many times on this thread.. Tim Connally here in Kenosha, WI is highly skilled and fully capable with all types of Modulus Guitars and Basses. He has done over 40 for myself and my guitar player alone. He has done everything from my Neck Thru Bassstar's to my G.Gould GGi5's and most everything in between. From Quantum's to Genesis and just about everything else you could think of.. PM me for direct contact info. Speak to him yourself..

Tony's quote for PB to do it, is very very high. You'd do better if you went to iriegnome's guy.

Pete, do you think the work is above Fran's pay grade? I know he isn't as well versed in graphite necks as some, but the work he has done on my four has been stellar. Unless the neck is twisted, I wouldn't hesitate to start with him and see what he thinks...

Hey Ben, He could handle it for sure, I was just reaching out to Mobsters outside of our area. Fran gets super busy and I've never needed him to work on any of my Quantums or VJ fretless. I know Tony would cost me an arm, leg, first born and my trusty Jack Russell Terrier Mo Green plus shipping to MN!
