Modulus Mob

Update: the truss rod is not wanting to move either way nicely.
If I was you I would stop while I’m ahead. Tennessee is supposed to start re-opening Monday (not Nashville yet, but...) so there should be some music stores around that may be able to help ypu, but even if you have to wait 2 more weeks, it’s better than irreparably damaging the neck of your bass... that’s a LOT of space under those bridge saddles and those strings to be having buzz...

For the record, here’s what mine look like...

Hello Mobsters,
I'm not a member yet but I'm thinking about checking this one out.
[Invalid or Expired Link Removed]

With the virus situation, it might be a tad risky just to arrange for curbside pickup without a chance to check it in person. And I realize someone here might decide to pick it up before me...but if so at least it goes to a good home.

The only marking on it is on the headstock. Any chance this specimen is a Modulus neck on another's body? Anything I should, or shouldn't see on a 1989 model?:help:

Thanks in advance. It's really great to see Geoff and others from the old works active here!

Thank you for the offer, unfortunately I had bad luck with DR Lo-Riders on a non-truss rod Modulus before. Those strings have some extra tension and don't really work well on non-truss rod models and I'm wedded to those strings.
Really? I've used Nickel Lo-Riders for over a decade on my relief-adjustment less SST with no issues. What happened with yours?

soooo, any ideas what could cause a kld neck to cloud up like this?

i've seen and owned necks with cloudy spots here and there but this neck is cloudy from top to bottom with freckles/specs throughout...

is this one of jason newstead's basses that he 'waterproofed', tested/dunked it in his bathtub and accidentally left it underwater overnight? :p

saw this on reverb. I also think its from a shop in new orleans before it made its way to tenessee. ITs the finish it looks like heat or water got underneath it, you could strip the varnish and re do it and it should be ok. but if its the same bass from nola that i saw the rest of the screws are rusted out as well

yeah, it just looks like the neck was left outside in heavy humidity or was wrapped in a damp blanket.

love the three-tone burst.

one would hope a refin would bring it back to normal. if it was cheap enough, would like to try my hand and strip the clear coat to see what's what.
