Modulus Mob

got mine yesterday :-D

Nice! What top is that?

Ok guys, sleepy_monkey has decided to be awesome and take over the Mod Mob membership for a while.
I know how TB likes to keep up with stuff and since I'd like to see the club keep growing it's the best way to do so!
So send all your PM's to him to get your #, and I'm sending him my latest master list so everyone is taken care of. I'll pop in when I can! :bassist::bassist:

RockStar, I still haven't received the the master list. I sent you my email in a PM.

To all others requesting a number, be patient until I can get the list!! :bassist:

Mahogany, it looks amazing, but it's pretty weighty....

It would I agree... Can you get the parts seperately!?

actual Modulus parts? I don't see a place to order them on their page or catalog but they HAVE them so you might be able to get them from them. otherwise...replacements are easily bought from other sites. they won't say Modulus (tuners) on them but they are fine. I doubt Modulus makes their own tuners.

quite possibly the nicest mod i've ever seen

Ya know what I really dig about that awesome Modulus? (besides that gorgeous top laminate...mahogany, really? That its the sweetest looking hunk o' mahogany I've ever seen!)

No, the thing I really dig about that Modulus is that it DOESN'T SAY "MODULUS" IN HUGE FREAKIN' LETTERS ACROSS THE INTEGRATED NECK JOINT!!!!

Stupidest place for a logo ever.

I think it does :D It's just not WHITE AND BRIGHT. I could be wrong but I think I see a U.

Check your monitor settings...I can see it. It almost looks like silver lettering but it's there.

I always thought the previous "Modulus Graphite" logo in the same location looked better.

I dig what you're saying though...

Does anyone have recordings of their Modulus? I'd love to hear some different samples of the various models with the different electronic combinations. It would really be great to hear some with different after-market setups too.

If you can post a clip, please state what model it is and what electronics you have (maybe even the woods). I've got two Quantums that sound totally different and it would be interesting to hear what other combinations sound like.

Thanks.

I have a ton of stuff recorded with a H4 field recorder from when I've jammed. I just got m-audio recording capability so I'll throw something up, when I figure out how to use it (e.g. time allows)

Well, I think I'm on my way back to the Modulus Mob! I say "back" because I had a beautiful Modulus Q5 SweetSpot(which began my love affair with Spalted Maple) which was stolen from me a number of years ago:mad:. I put together a deal for a new Q5W and I'm hoping to have it by next week! Of course I'll post "official" pics when I get it, but this'll hafta do until then!

Q5 Bubinga Wide Neck/NTMB Alder Body, Black Hardware, Wide Neck, 18 Volt NTMB, Bartolini Pickups..YEAH, BABY! :bassist:

absolutley amaizing,
but how does that wide neck feels?

I got mine a few weeks ago, I'm totally in love with it! It's the bass that gives you the envy to sell all the other ones. Just need to find a set of EMG's and an EMG BQC preamp! Not such a big fan of the Bart's tone

I can't vouche for the quality of the RealAudio transfers on this page, but the original album was pretty kick-azz sounding. Tracks #2, 7, 8, 10, and the final minutes of #11 were played on a 1988 Modulus Quantum-6 SPX: alder body w/ coco-bola top, bolt-on graphite neck, EMG J pickups, aftermarket modded w/ an EMG BTC preamp/EQ. Strung up w/ Ken Smith Rockmaster Medium-Light stainless steel roundwounds.

Well, she showed up today!!!!

This neck is WIDE:eek: But I love it! I can't wait til my gigs this weekend :hyper:! I got a new rig too, so that's gonna make this a fun weekend! I'll try to get some better pics because this one sucks and the store pics I posted don't do it justice! It's beautiful! Even the gf said "Wow! I think that's my favorite one of yours"! LOL!

Last year I picked up a 2001 Q5. I love it to pieces. I had a nice ebony ramp made for it. Looks sharp (I will post pictures when I'm at home). It feels great. I love the neck. Its the only 35" scale instrument that hasn't caused me discomfort over time. It has great presence in the mix and the b-string is bowel shaking.

My only complaint about it is easily remedied: Its equipped with active EMG humbuckers (bright!) and an OBP-1 2 band boost-only preamp. I'm happy to keep the EMGs, because I like their growl, but the bass needs a more flexible preamp to tame some of the glassiness that comes from having EMGs AND a graphite neck. I want to be able to goose the mids and cut the highs. My immediate inclination is towards an OBP-3, but I'm curious what suggestions other Modulus owners have with regards to preamps that pair well with Q basses.
