I’ve thought about it, but not sure how many are willing to pay that much. It’s great if you can score one on eBay at a good price, but they are expensive to build.

Follow-up:

I've had a chance to play my new to me green TBX 5 at a few gigs. It's a beast! It sounds amazing and plays really easily. It now has all updated EMG pickups (40DC-X) pickups and electronics (BQC) and while it was reasonably quiet before, it's now dead silent and has even more dynamics. Apparently it sounds really, really good out front. Thanks for the killer bass, Steven!

That’s the same electronics I’ve got in my Q5 (bolt on, not a TBX), and yep, they're dead quiet, even in my noisy basement.

TBH, I love the Bartolini tone, as well. Trying to choose induces option anxiety. A friend of mine was telling me he had a Modulus Q6 that he wired with Bartolini pickups and EMG electronics. He loved that combination.

So, as promised, here's the update. The first body attempted had a natural wood flaw, so we had to make another. There will be two SST's available. One, a Custom, with a gnarly maple top, Hawaiian Saligna underlay, over alder. The saligna is extremely hard, and had a nut brown color, with a hint of red. I've included a closeup of the arm bevel to highlight it. I think it will look real cool with a stark clear coat, but will also look nice in a trans color. The SST-X body is alder, and will be slightly discounted for the wood flaw you might never notice.

I ran into the same issue with my 1991 Q6. It's a thing, apparently, with pre-truss-rod Modulii. I was told that what happens (usually around year 15) is that the phenolic fretboard begins to shrink and exerts enough pressure to bow the neck, and there is your relief issue. On the advice of fellow Modulus Mob TB-ers, I sent the neck to Jerry Dorsch, one of the original Modulus crew, and he replaced the fretboard with a new phenolwood slab (that he got from Zon) and also routed a channel and installed a truss rod. Best thing I ever did. I was told in advance that Jerry is the man for this kind of repair, and he totally is. And the truss rod is a massive improvement. Given the nature of the carbon fiber (i.e., amazing stiffness), the truss rod won't produce massive changes, but it's just right for fine tuning the neck.
