Modulus Mob

Damn, that is one sexy bass. I love everything about it.

Sounds like a surprising amount of work to put into a new instrument though, at that price point.
I was thinking the same thing & that is unacceptable to me considering the high cost. If all that work needed to be done & it was a $275 instrument, I get it but not for a $6000-$7000 bass - or for a $1500 for that matter. It's like buying a brand new Audi and then saying "It's awesome but I had to adjust the brake pads, give it a tune up & swap out the GPS (and not by choice).

Not astute enough as yet. It’s not mint- has some scratch wear- normal. Ok- ima try to do the photo thing- gotta pry my wife from her kindle. I can’t even. Thanks for your interest!

I’ve got a - what I THINK to be a ‘92 SPi four string with EMG pups, looks to be a dark green tiger maple. The serial number is- 980589. Can anyone help me identify this bass? I bought in in January of 1995- the item number is-40MG2989. I’m considering moving it. I don’t know what it is worth. TIA-
If the SN starts w 98 I believe that would mean that axe was built in 1998. If you bought it in ‘95 you probably traveled into the future…

I’ve been accused of many things, but never being ahead of my time. You are correct- I’ve got cataracts. The second digit is double struck- my wife took a photo of it, and we have since concluded it to be a “2”. The amended serial number is- 920589. I’m set to visit an eye surgeon next week. Thank you!

I have a question for you, back in the 00’s what colours are the Modulus basses produced? I’m planning to change the color and want to paint him with the original stuff, thinking about Sparkle Purple and Sparkle Blue instead of Black (thats because previous owner damages a little bit the paint job and the body looks meh I want to know if the purple and blue sparkle was aviable in stock models in 2005.
Thanks buddies it’s a pleasure found this community and thread, cheers!

Anyone have suggestions on new pickups and pre for an MM+J funk unlimited? Currently has Bartolini pickups and an obp3. I'm not fond of the pre. Have never really like bartolini pickups in general. I can dial a sound that is acceptable but it's not really grabbing me, eventually I stop and say to myself "this is how it's voiced". It's ok, but I think the pre at least should go. The mid selector (push/pull) and pot adjustment barely make any changes. Like barely. The signal seems low but if I crank the bass it gets a lot hotter. Bass at the center detent seems a bit weak, turning up increased output...

I've been thinking of a complete emg setup.

Looking for suggestions, thanks!

My strap button on my VJ bass got stripped somehow. I noticed it was loose and without having to use a screwdriver the screw & button just pull out. Is the solution to simply get a larger diameter screw? I don't want to make the hole bigger only to end up with the same problem. Any suggestions as to how to replace/remedy the issue? Thanks.

Sounds like things aren't working properly. Maybe try a new pre or wire it passive to see what's going on.

This is the archetypal situation calling for the Toothpick + Elmer's Glue solution.

That does sound odd- my experience with Aguilar pre’s is a little goes a LONG way… is it stock? Are you the original owner? Maybe someone effed up the install…
