Modulus Mob

any suggestions?

just picked up this modulus. i believe the top is koa. looking to plug the pot hole under the neck pickup / next to the neck joint. any suggestions? any know of online sellers that have dowels that might work? or other plug options?

My 2003 Modulus neck is already quite thick haha. I'm assuming yours was an earlier model with the thinner neck profile.

yeah, it's a '97 with the 2.75" width at the 24th fret. just a smidge on the thin/narrow side for my tastes. the "new" modulus makes the wider/thicker neck for its quantum qw5-19 but they're a bit pricey. these custom builds and mr. gould's offerings keep me happy... :)

I am new to the Modulus world... I picked up a Quantum 5 a few weeks back. Got a good deal on it... although the bass was nasty and the case smelled like it lived in a bar. Cleaned up really well. Anyway, I bought it knowing I probably wouldn't care for the EMG preamp and pickups. My buddy has Bartolini's in his and I really like his tone. The back story is we are friends and met while playing bass at a local church. I wasn't much of a fan of his color but the tone was amazing... especially thought his Eden 800 head and SWR 810. This bass popped up and he told me I should jump on it... but it is nearly the same color as his haha! So I would rather not run the same preamp and pickup combo. I've looked at several options. Aguilar is on top right now. But while listening to youtube at work, one of the videos popped up Sadowsky bass review. Have any of you tried using a Sadowsky preamp and soap bar combo in a Modulus? I haven't checked the specs so the soap bars might not even fit. It just had me wondering.

you can still get the GB7s. They are widely available. The GB350 are the "res-o-lite" tuning machines which are a different alloy and are lighter but have a slightly different look.

Does anyone know what this preamp from a M92 is?

Ugh, sorry for the format. I got sent a pic from Reverb but I can't make it behave as anything other than a .webp

It apparently says ADF 02 on it.

While we're at it, does anyone know if other pre's were available as stock?

This is my M92 with an Aguilar OBP-1 but I don't know if it came that way.

is the pickup from the m-92 in question an emg?

the dip switches on the preamp make me immediately think "emg bts"

is the volume pot rated at 25k?

my vote is emg bts (could be wrong but, hey, it's the interwebs!).

When the M-92 basses came out they had a EMG DC Humbucker & the preamp was a BTS preamp if I recollect.

It's an EMG pickup, as mine is. I was actually asking him about his knobs (ahem) since they looked like mine and I had thought they all had the rubberized ones but have come to think that wasn't always the case as I've seen a few others that have dome knobs.

So when I asked about his preamp he kindly sent that pic but had no idea what it was.
