Modulus Mob

I tried him and Sleepy Monkey and received no reply whatsoever. Slightly disconcerting, but oh well.

Extremely sorry about this!! I got tied up with school and work (both full time) and quit getting on TB as much...and missed a few numbers but looks like you picked up with no problem. Thanks for doing that!!! Keep up the good work and Modulus numbers!!!

I basically sold all of my gear....EXCEPT my Modulus...haha.

Hey, no problem at all! It has been fun keeping the club going. nice to hear you're still a Mob Member!:hyper:

Also, a question....I was looking at the Modulus store (for which you can't order anything) and I was wondering...how do I know if my preamp is an Aguilar or a Bartolini....for the pots sake? I was thinking about ordering some new pots. The pups are active EMGs...I have had the bass for about 6 years...but it is a 96.

l).

On the Modulus website, the VJ pickups just say "(2) Bartolini passive J pickups" which tells me those are most like single coils already if the bass is stock.

Modulus does NOT use singles coil Barts in their bass...

Yes they are passive, but they are a dual coil pickup. They do not want anything leaving the factory that would have any sort of hum.

This is why bubinga5's bass is quite.

Hope this clarifies things.

So what model Barts are in the Genesis basses?

Every description I have ever read says "Bartolini J pickups".

To me this means single coil. I hadn't considered that they might be dual coil J's.

Man I don't know the exact model J's that they are.
Let me correct myself its "split-coil" not "dual coil".:hiding:

In fact there Bartolini offers more split-coil J style pickups then single.

Check them out more information on them here.

This is just a guess (so do not hold me to it) but they are most likely using 9J#1 for them.
Hope this helps

Just as a FYI for those using Js on Funk Unlimited 5.

Nordstrand does make a direct replacement, if you wanted something different. (This is not advertised on the site and its a slight custom charge).

I'm assuming they can do them any style that J style that they offer. This is for a 17mm spacing.

They only have done a couple of these. I'm dropping a set in my Funk Unlimited 5 in a couple of weeks with an Audere pre.

Yay:hyper:

It's already a great bass, but I'll be changing the electronics though.
Pickup's gonna be Nordstrand Big Single in a custom housing on advice of the Nordstrand crew. (Who are really helpful people btw!)
As pre-amp I'm gonna pop in an Aguilat ODB-3SK/PP because I prefer to have a decent mid-control on my active basses.

That's going to be sick dude!

It's more like 17.5 or 18mm spacing isn't it? My Flea 5 is definitely wider spacing than my sterling 5 or spector ...

Update on my studio sessions, plugged my Bassstar in on day 3 and the output was distorted. Changed battery, changed input jack and it was still bad. Used my P bass for Wednesday and Thursday. Pulled my 1998 Modulus G5 out brought it to the studio. Put the cord into the jack and it fell right out. ANOTHER BAD JACK!!! Damn it. Now we are done laying down our bass tracks and I need to find someone to work on my electronics for both of my Modulus 5'ers before this next weekend!! I am so bummed
