hello, I've recently seen online it is a great option to change your regular neck to the one of a modulus . So you get the great feeling of a modulus without paying too much. Now I am in the posession of this bass guitar: http://https://www.google.nl/search?newwindow=1&hl=en&site=imghp&tbm=isch&source=hp&biw=1920&bih=989&q=squier+vintage+modified+jazz+bass+3+tone+sunburst&oq=Squier+vintage+modified+jazz+bass&gs_l=img.3.2.0l9j0i5.1795.10038.0.11411.33.15.0.18.18.0.126.1104.13j2.15.0...0.0.0..1ac.1.17.img.sa0e3sefP64#facrc=_&imgdii=_&imgrc=SVeq-rhxHg1E0M%3A%3BIyYWVP2JGKPRWM%3Bhttp%253A%252F%252Fwww.themusiczoo.com%252Fimages%252F1-19-11%252F2692_Squier_Vintage_Modified_Jazz_Bass_RW_3_Tone_Sunburst_ICS10177357_a.jpg%3Bhttp%253A%252F%252Fwww.themusiczoo.com%252Fproduct%252F2692%252FSquier-by-Fender-Vintage-Modified-Jazz-Bass-3-Tone-Sunburst%252F%3B1000%3B326 Would it be possible / suitable to change this jazzbass neck to the one of a modulus? or would it take to much changing? will the neck pop straight in or does it require specialist attention?
+1. Also, Modulus basses are a total package...not just a neck. With that said, your link is dead so I couldn't even say whether you'd be able to put one on your bass. You may have a very haad time even finding a Modulus neck right now, they don't come up for sale very often and there are rumors about the company going under.
Yes that normally would sound very logical, but I've bought this bass as Bass to be upgraded, modified in anyway. since I already have Musicman Stingray, I am looking for something new. a Project to keep me bizzy, I've read on this subject. And it seemed to me buying a 800$ to 1200$ bass and then totally changing it would be such a waste. If I am to buy a Fender Jazz bass I'd keep it in original condition. Since this bass is cheaper I wouldn't be so afraid changing things about it. So do you think it would be good for a frankenstein bass?
you got a point there. There is also a lot special about a full modulus. but my wife thinks 2 2000$ basses are a bit overkill, she already thought the stingray was an utter waste of money but let me buy it since it made me happy haha. so I am looking for alternative to get that great graphite neck I've heard so much about it. It would be very sad of the company was going to shut down, they've made some beautifull basses.
Current status of the company notwithstanding, Modulus has offered replacement necks to fit standard Fender bolt-on neck pockets for the entirety of their ~40 year history. Whether you want to refer to a parts bass w/ a Modulus neck as a "Modulus" bass is more a semantic issue than an ethical one imho.
I'm not calling it a modulus bass, I am just really interested in the feeling of the graphite neck that that specific neck has to offer
