Guess I'm the only one who liked them.

But I considered them over the day Guitar Center stopped their policy of no questions asked swaps on dead ones.

I actually one time snagged a broken one left on stage by another band at a gig. Swapped for new at GC the next day. It's still going strong some 10 years later.

WHIRLWIND and HOSA I can't say it enough. Their cables are reasonable priced and they hold up. I will never understand why some people pay crazy money for cables when Whirlwind and Hosa makes anything you might need at a reasonable price.

I still have my Whirlwind 25’ cable from the late 70’s. Fixed one of the ends once but it’s longer than most. Was my only one for years.

I don't care what brand of cable you buy, sooner or later it will fail. Who keeps a receipt for a cable they bought 5 yrs ago? Just buy a brand name one from a reliable music store and be done with it.

Just a heads up, had a couple of Monster cables develop intermittent shorts, contacted them on June 26, 2021, just got a reply today ( February 15, 2022 ), they basically said no receipt, no warranty, so I guess I'm out of luck,and I believe Guitar center, doesn't do warranty exchange any more, I asked ...... as to the receipt, I think I was smart, I photo-copied the thermal paper receipt, but the storage place where I kept my paper backups, was involved, in a fire, lost photos & paperwork, just the luck of the draw
As a side note, I switched to the D'Addario PW series of cable, they have the Neutrik ends, and they seem to be made very well.
So as a warning, buyer beware

You know, I've had the same monster cable for 20 years.

I bought a couple more recently, and one went bad. Trip right?

I owned 1 Monster instrument cable. I hated how stiff it was and sold it after just taking up space in my briefcase for several years. I made my own cables for years with Rockflex, but I do like the D'Addario American Stage cables a lot and have several.

How many years ago did Monster start making instrument cables, 25+ years ago?

However long it's been, that's how long I've been gigging with the same two I've got!
(Bought em cause I was tired of constantly replacing all the cheap as*ed cables I'd been gigging.)

Never a problem, and if there is, I'll go with Monster again.

I have only owned a few monster cables. Two of them are 18" patch right angle, and they have always been fine. An observation about these cables is how rigid they are. They barely bend, and I wonder if this is why they fail.

The truth is probably that they don't fail any more or any less than any other cable BUT monster likes to make a lot of outlandish claims about improving tone and other bs and that gets them more scrutiny

the warranty thing was an interesting selling point back in the day.

honestly, just buy quality "regular" cables and accept that they may wear out over time. I always wrap the cable through the amp handle in one way or another, to keep the ends from wearing out... as I type this i'm looking across the room at an ernie ball cable i'm nearly positive i've had since 2005 or so, that still behaves 100%.

I had a Monster cable years ago and it seemed to work fine, but I never bought into the snake oil.

i became a Tsunami endorser a while back and I can honestly say they're the best cables I've ever used. Are they considered to be on the pricey side? Depends on who you ask, but I don't expect to have any worries with them for years to come. And if I did have an issue I'm confident it would be resolved in a timely manner at no cost to me. To me, that's worth the investment.

I've been using the same 20ft Monster Cables for about 15/20 years now. If I remember correctly I did exchange one of them about 10 years ago but considering the amount of touring and abuse they have been through I'm happy with their quality. Just recently one of them started crackling a little bit so I guess I'm due a couple of new cables. Guess I'll look into another brand after what I'm reading on this thread. Most of my cable woes over the years have been patch connectors on my pedalboard. Of course, their proximity to my feet when I would drink beer on stage probably had something to do with them prematurely dying.

Huh. I have a 20 ft SpectraFlex that I took to an Aebersold class in 1995 and have used steadily ever since. Just bought another, a 15 ft with right angle connector on one end.

I ordered some custom length cables on Saturday afternoon and Hank at Rattlesnake magically made them and packed them and they were in my mail box on Monday. Bulletproof product and the best service and protection you can get and Neutrik ends. Worth it.

I agree. I've been getting Live Wire Elite 20' cables with the silent end, from the much-maligned Guitar Center ever since I started playing again. Had one I use at home most everyday start acting up so I brought it in this past Sunday (no receipt) and walked out with a new one within 5 minutes.

I’m not exaggerating. I was at Guitar Center deciding on a cable. Sales rep told me the Monster cable warranty is so good, I could cut the cable in half and get another one-no questions asked. Fast forward a couple years, warranty was non existent. I had to go through Monster, describe the issue. If they approved, I would have to mail cable in (on my dime) and pay for return shipping. I just dropped the issue, and my remaining Monster cables went into a box never to be seen again. And yes, it enlarged my Jack. I measured the cable compared to another brand, and was a noticeable difference in size.
