Double Bass Mooradian bag + cat pee = GRRRR.

Male cats that haven't been neutered are the culprit, generally.

Not only. I've always had cats and almost never had a problem, but I crashed at a friends place once and his cats were apparently threatened by Chester's scent on my bag. Didn't notice it immediately. It seemed to get stronger and stronger as the days went by.

Lucky you, DC! I have to sequester all soft cases away from mine... it's lesson some of us learned the hard way, from the russian roulette which is feline stewardship.

I've had cats all my life, and never has one urinated in or on any of my gear. The two I have now LOVE to sleep in my bag when it's not on the bass- I have a brush to remove the hair, but other than that- no issues.

Bassamatic nailed it in post #10, you need a product with ENZYMES. "Urine-Off" worked okay, but I've since found better, more efficacious products. We've got a cat right now that has an illness, and have learned the hard way of what works and what doesn't. Wish I'd known about enzymes years ago when my friend's cat peed on my MTB shoes – I washed them and they were okay when they were dry, but every time they got wet (riding in the rain or just sweat) ... pee-eww!

Our sick kitty got into the laundry and peed on my pillowcase, but after being treated with my wife's home-made enzyme I can now sleep with my nose right in the pillow case and there is 0% odour.

NO commercial product has worked as well as the home-made enzyme solution.

INGREDIENTS
1 part: Black/Brown Sugar
3 parts: mandarin/clementine oranges
10 parts: H2O

So the ratio is 1:3:10

Chuck it in a sealed jar, let it ferment and bubble away, periodically letting the gas buildup escape. If it starts to smell rotten, add a bit more sugar.

So easy, all natural and it works.

So what's the catch? Well, there's always a catch isn't there?

Yes, well, here's the catch...

It takes three months to make it.

You have to leave it sitting in its jar for 3 months, and if you add sugar, IIRC, that puts the clock back to zero.

I'd tell you more about it, but that's all I know as my wife is the master brewer of this concoction. I'm sure if you search online for it, you'll find more detailed instructions. So obviously there is no need to burn the Mooradian bag.

Best of luck with it,
FF

PS: I hate typos. You mix even just two letters and your whole post is urined.
