More Spam from myspace

First of all, there's Jim Lee, the guy who did FunkyChops and spammed it everywhere on the internet way back when. I bit, I bought, and I thought the product was utter garbage offering no explination, no theory and just video of him slapping a sunburst stingray.

Then, he got rid of his name on his product, took his face out of the videos, but his video style, playing style, and sunburst Stingray remained prominent in the video, and spammed it here, as well as a few other forums.

Now, fast forward maybe a year or so, he's spamming the entire bass playing world on Myspace. I'm REALLY getting sick of the spam on myspace. I'm really considering just saying screw it and deleting my account there.

Is it me, or does anyone else hate the way the internet world is going to poo?

Except when you get a GMail account, you have like 883837373 invites.

Anyways, I'm very strict with my MySpace account friendlist. It's full of real life friends, family, and music contacts on a personal level. I don't put strangers, or even "e-friends" on my personal MySpace, just for the sake of escaping spam and unnecessary convo.

How is he spamming you? Why not just block him?

I do this as well. All are personal friends, except for a few celeb musicians I like to keep updates from (subscribed to their blogs) and a few lucky TBers.

I've recieved messages from him and multiple friend requests.

The point is, I have an email box filling up with notices that he's messaged me or befriended me. I shouldn't have to deal with that and I'm sick of myspace being another medium for spam.

I think it has it's positives. It's almost a requisit for musicians in certain genres and scenes. My band would not survive without it, and I'm not sure if that's a good thing for MySpace, or a bad thing for the band.

I believe there is a "block" function tpylons, which will make it so he can't message, add request, or anything else to you. If he creates multiple accounts to do this, than you can report him. MySpace is very much in the spotlight right now, so it's employees are very strict with upholding the rules and getting on top of spammers.

Yeah, most bands nowadays are almost expected to have one. My band does, but we don't have any new recordings, so we haven't done much with it.

I personally find myspace to make bands appear very unprofessional, saying "im too cheap to buy a domain, I'm too lazy to learn to desin, and I'm too cheap to hire a designer" essentially "I'm too cheap to put money into my band, and neither should you"...

Get a .com ...

We have both...there's no guarantee that anyone is going to visit your site if you have your own domain. If you have a myspace, someone will find it sooner or later.

this is mean and cruel, but if you want to do it, we won't tell on you.:)

get his email, and then sign him up for all those porn sites and credit cards and all that crap. all you need is an email address, and you can fake the name, address, and other miscellaneous bull crap.


again, i'm not saying this is the right thing to do, but it is an option.
