Update:

First of all, I need to clarify, this neck has a back bow, not a bow. I can straighten it with the TR rather easily. but it does take a bit to get it adjusted. I'll be putting LaBella Low tension flats on here, so that will help

Been working on this neck little by little. When I first started cutting the profile, the grain was raising, so I needed to go back to it day after day with my little Ibex planer and flatten out the risen portions. Seems like it has stabilized. and I am now starting to polish it out. I absolutely luv the feel of an ebony neck. There's nothing else like it.

I really like to experiment, so the thing I did a little different on this neck was to cut an asymmetrical profile. Hard to show in the photo, but on the treble side, I cut it almost like a V, and on the bass side, I cut it as a D. Feels good. We'll see if it works.

This may be ready to go in another couple days.

Didn't think I'd be working on this today.

All I need to do is cut the nut, do a setup, and cut a control cavity cover.

The new one is coming in at 7.7lbs right now. Yikes!

Got this bass assembled.
One thing I forgot to do, side dots on the neck.

My initial impressions ......
Neck is super smooth, slim and fast. I think I like my necks a little thicker. Jury is still out on the asymmetrical neck profile
Action is great right out of the box.
My design co-ordinator said "I hope this doesn't offend you, but it doesn't sound warm". She's right. I'll be playing with the pup/electronics for a while. Also need to get a pot with a series/parallel switch on it. It just seems to be a one trick pony right now, and it's trick isn't my cup of tea. Maybe that's because I'm a J/PJ sort of guy

Also, this is the first instrument where I'm using Labella's Low Tension Flats.

Need to cut a new nut. Not totally happy with the one I have so far.

That looks really good. The limba is awesome, and the Mac Ebony neck has some nice striping in it. If this is truly a twin to your other one, could you try swapping the necks temporarily, to see how much that might warm up the tone? How does it sound unamplified?

I was playing it last night and started to find a couple sweet spots with the EQ. I'll play with it more today. I may do the neck swap as suggested.

The bass is somewhat "dead" sounding when it's unamplified

Update

Been tweaking on this.
1) Changed strings to TI's
2) Changed wiring on pup to series. (don't know what I wired it to parallel)
3) Set pup height
These 3 changes make the bass sound a lot better,
3) Added side dots on neck.
4) Set intonation at bridge

I am now a happy camper.
I still need to cut a new nut, and I need to tweak the TR a bit as well

Maiden Voyage is tonight.
