Morley FX Blender troubles...

Hi, just wondering if anybody can help with some pedal problems I've been having.

I've been using the Morley FX Blender in my effects chain for a while now, and have been getting a very inconsistent but annoying problem.

Randomly, when I press the pedal to blend in the FX loop, the chain loses all volume. Clean signal works fine when I depress it. I can "reset" the pedal by removing the power cable, and all is fine for a while, until it does it again randomly. I also experience the problem when using batteries.

I've emailed Morley support, but they don't seem to be wanting to write back to me. Just wondering if anybody has experienced this, or knows what the problem might be - or could suggest an alternative? I don't really want a switch, I really like the expression this pedal allows for.

When you say "looses all volume" do you ACTUALLY mean ALL volume, or just SOME volume? Like, does it go completely mute?

Checked cables and connectors? Tried removing pedals and cables from the loop to limit the possibilities? What I would try is replacing everything in the loop with a single good patch cable, just to see if you can narrow the problem down.
 
Hi, yeah I've tried different cables and even a single pedal loop to see if this cleared anything up. When I say it loses volume, I should have said loses 99% of the volume - there's a very quiet (almost muted signal) which can be heard if you turn the amp up.
 
...but you still have control over the blending of this very quiet signal?

The only obvious thing you should check is the mechanism that operates the light dependent (read: sensitive) resistors (LDR's). It could be that something is occasionally going awry with that. The other thing you could check if you know what to look for is bad solder joints, especially in the area of those same LDR's.

As I'm not familiar with the internals I can't help too specifically, sorry.
