MORTRIX MIDI foot controller

It looks like it was born to control a Poly Effects Beebo.
Funny you should say that as this pic is on the Facebook feed.

From discussions on here and other places, you may recall that I’ve been collaborating on a MIDI controller for the last couple of years. We’ve now just launched the website and will exhibit at Synthfest UK next month.

Please take a look.

I’d love to hear your thoughts.

Firstly, big congrats on this. More power to you!

You may have this in the works already, but I would suggest having a video pretty close to the top of the homepage for the TLDR crowd.

You might say people interested in this type of MIDI controller are a self-selecting group and those people are happy to read, but... still :)

Thanks. It’s still a work in progress and there should be some videos soon.

Can the footswitches be programmed to actively adjust a parameter while being held?

Example in the video.

While holding one footswitch, the Whammy is divebombing down and another footswitch the Whammy is divebombing up, but only while the footswitch is held to a programmed rise/fall time. It is done several times in the video but 3:40-3:56 is best example of both (youtuber is using a custom made midi controller to do this).

Since the CC value also has a time related function that needs to be handled by the controller rather than the pedal, not many midi controllers on the market have this feature, at least that I am aware of...

An envelope assigned to a footswitch with a momentary press will easily achieve that.

Just found that there’s MIDIUM example of this at the very end of this clip:

There already x2.
I misinterpreted those as outputs rather than inputs for some reason. My mistake.

Yes, it’s a British thing.

indeed, it’s nice to broaden people’s language and there are at least two people on TB who’d never heard the expression. Every day is a school day.
No criticism, just amused that the same issue is cropping up of people not understanding the word.

What kind of things are envisioned for the expansion port? My mind can only imagine a synth modual or more memory....

And, I know you're active in the c4 forum, what does this bring to that?
Stuff like relays and loop switching. I’ve got a pretty cool idea that I’ve run past a few different pedal makers in the past, one of whom got as far as a mock-up but it never went further. It’ll work devastatingly well as a Midium module.

As for C4 use, access to more envelopes and LFOs to animate parameters for a start. Being able to have finger and foot control over 128 parameters (sadly SA MIDI maps only do 7-bit MIDI and the parameters on the C4 outnumber the 128 slots on its own MIDI map. Hoping they’ll adopt NRPN then we could have access to ALL parameters).
