The German-carve looks awesome! Roger Rossmeisl would have been proud! Great colour too! Really beautiful! Can't wait to see it w/the pearl guard and all those knobs! Would love to hear this 3-EMG tone beast! I can only imagine!

The guy who made the body blank for me did a nice job with the carving. I had to do a lot of sanding and re-shaping of the points to get them the way that I wanted. It was nice to have an original Mosrite for reference.

I had spotted that paint color at the auto parts store a while back and thought it looked a lot like the original 65 Mosrite blue. Not exact, but I'll take a pic of the 2 basses together for comparison.

The bridge is functional but isn't exactly a thing of beauty, kind of like the original bridge. The bridge cover and pearloid pickguard should complete the sortofvintage look.

I tried the bass with the big band tonight and it sounds pretty huge. The low E is beefy and the high C cuts through better than my Carvin fretless. The tone sounded pretty even across all of the strings. The string spacing is taking a little getting used to - I haven't had a 5-string with Fender spacing at the bridge before but I kind of like it.

A guy was recording the rehearsal tonight for a promo of our next gig. If it sounds OK I'll post a link. I'll probably do a recording myself and put it on photobucket or youtube.

Well, nobody ever accused me of getting things done quickly. I have the pickguard and knobs mounted and built a nice polished bridge cover. There are threaded inserts for the pickguard screws so I can remove it as necessary for changing the battery. I'm working on a new bridge design because the one I have now is a pain to adjust. I'm waiting on installing the bridge cover until I have the new bridge mounted. The cover will cut into the pickguard a little near the bottom. I'm hoping to have the new bridge finished this week and I'll post pics of it when it's done.

Here is a pic of the whole bass. The changing table in the background is for my grandson. He gets a lot of use out of it!

Here are some sound clips that I recorded today. Bass through Ampeg SVP-CL all controls 12:00 and through a Gemsound PL-USB. BQC on the bass is set flat. The action is fairlly low and the sloppy technique usually isn't heard through a speaker.

In order :

1. All 3 pickups
2. Middle Pickup
3. Neck Pickup
4. Neck and Bridge
5. middle and Bridge
