Most difficult bass song ever!!

All The Small Things by Blink 182...the inner strength required to get through playing that song is a true measure of a bass players' dominance of his instrument and his character too :hiding:
LOL!

i think this is just a thread for songs we should all listen to!

+1 for the mention of spastic ink
+1 for the mention of seven nation army

-1 for whoever said "if you can double thumb, classical thump is easy!" #1 he uses other techniques besides double thumb that are still tough to pull off. #2 thats like say..."running a mile iin 4:30 is easy if you can run 200 miles per hour!" well OBVIOUSLY its easier if you can double thumb! and its still hard!

Bach Cello suites and Bottesini are good picks, I've attempted to play the prelude to the first suite on upright which is near impossible only Edgar Meyer and a couple other virtuosos have really articulated the suites well, but I can definitely do it on electric its not nearly as hard.

YYZ and Tommy the Cat are not HARD. They're definitely difficult but they can easily be conquered through practice. I can play YYZ and Tommy the Cat perfectly now after constant practice but can still play nothing by Wooten.

i'm gonna have to go ahead and agree with you. i've been playing almost 6 years now, and up until about a month ago, i didn't think i'd EVER be able to play YYZ or Tommy the Cat, and i just got done playing them both. i've never cracked down and tried to do them verbatim, but i can get the main riff in tommy the cat down pretty perfect, and most of the main grooves from yyz are tricky but FAR from impossible, the fills and solos require a bit more time.

it's all about practice people. i can't play anything by vic wooten, nor do i want to personally. i just say, don't underestimate yourselves. you have no idea how pumped i was when i busted out tommy the cat for the first time...just keep trying and you can get it

also, regardless of chops, i think a lot of Yes songs are pretty damn hard, simply just by remembering them. come on, 15+ minute songs, and they aren't exactly straightforward. you gotta remember all the little off-time changes and upbeat grooves...just a thought.

that is why i love Yes. to play it, you need a good brain and you need to be ready for it.
