YYZ by Rush.
La Villa Strangiato by Rush.
LOL!All The Small Things by Blink 182...the inner strength required to get through playing that song is a true measure of a bass players' dominance of his instrument and his character too![]()

okay, how about playing all of the parts to Yes' 'Close To The Edge' in real time? no loopers, backing tapes or musicians.
I was doing that back in the mid-1970's.
You did mean bass parts, right?
Anyway, my choice would be "Jaws" by John Williams. Not many can recreate that uber-ominous vibe.
YYZ and Tommy the Cat are not HARD. They're definitely difficult but they can easily be conquered through practice. I can play YYZ and Tommy the Cat perfectly now after constant practice but can still play nothing by Wooten.
also, regardless of chops, i think a lot of Yes songs are pretty damn hard, simply just by remembering them. come on, 15+ minute songs, and they aren't exactly straightforward. you gotta remember all the little off-time changes and upbeat grooves...just a thought.
