Tonewood. Especially fretboard

Let’s be specific. The most divisive part of this when it comes up is whether wood choice matters to tone.

Other repeated topics that are always divisive:
* music stands ok at a gig?
* shorts ok at a gig?
* formal music education required/desirable?
* whether budget/value line basses are as good as top-of-the-line basses
* politics and religion

Another one is the "Are Foderas/Sadowskys/Alembics worth it" threads. Usually appear every three months, timed around when high schools go on break/vacation.

Explaining how music and musicians work to those that abolutely don't get it is a fool's errand on this site. Explaining the basics of supply and demand and scales of economy to them is a completely different waste of time. :D

Just think about whats going on in the world today while we spend our day worrying about, should I use Flats or Rounds? That's why I live in the Bass humor section.
If I could, I'd install the sweetest sounding early - mid 60's P with "old school" flats that I could find, as permanent world dictator and would let that rich, deep, thump and the complex midrange capped with an elegant treble response, work it's way around the globe, sorting everything out and reminding everyone that we're not all that different after all....:cool:

I’m assuming it’s the ‘does wood effect tone’ debate, or does relicing suck or guys like me that chime in not having read the entire thread so I’m likely just repeating what had already been said but presenting it as the only guy in the entire forum that’s thought of this...

...then posting a gif of someone eating popcorn.

OK, different approach.

Let’s sat I run over 10 nuns in a crosswalk. Which would get me the bigger fine when the Talkbass policeman shows up at the scene

A) The Pike Amplification bumper sticker
B) The clearly visible 410 and 115 cabinets in my back seat
dude- thats divisive-you cant have 10's and 15's. One or the other, or you can have both, but then thats another can of worms.

Nope. It's Mrs. Howell. She will be VERY appreciative, and has a ton of cash to leave you in her will!

Lovey Howell in her younger days could hold her own against Ginger or Mary Ann.

This is in bass humor because I want to keep it lighthearted and fun. I have noticed, this morning alone, multiple posts about hot button issues that inevitably open a huge can of worms with riots in the streets, burning buildings, and the collapse of society as we know it ensuing. Example, the classic fender vs musicman: civil war or the INFAMOUS best bass for metal,punk, or postmodern classical progressive jazz gaelic fusion with Uncle Dave on the uilleann pipes. The new one unknown to me was pike electronics vs Darkglass. We've all seen THAT GUY post some rant about how the fender elite, or stingray, or ric, or [insert your favorite brand here] he bought was an overpriced POS. Then Fenderboy1986 or MMRay511 comes swinging in from the moral high ground with his lasso of superiority (apologies if that is actually someones TB tag no offense intended) and begins WWIII. So why is it that we cant just get along? Poll for kicks. Also carrots.

The list is a helluva lot shorter if you ask what we agree on.
