I only have store test opinion on Flea J ,Roadworn J and Performer J ( with finger style + both pickups engage. )

With Flat Amp EQ, the Flea J has juicy warmth and meatier tone ; RW J sound thinner but open sounding ; and the Performer J has better growl along with more present Upper MID.

If i make some Amp EQ tweak, i more prefer the Performer J sound which has sparkling growl than others without losing E string clarity and still full sounding G .

All three bass has nice neck, but i prefer the flatter fretboard radius on Performer J and notable better tone balance E and G / A and D than others.

Hope help.

Thanks to everyone who replied with some great info! After all the advice I decided I had to go and try the basses for myself even though it meant a long trip. As usual I went in with one thing in mind and came out with a completely different bass! I tried loads of basses and different brands and I settled on this lovely Flea active Jazz bas American made!
