How many times have you read on TB that ANY bass can be used in ANY setting. Well I'm here to say, I don't think so.

So how about it TBers - name the genre or venue and post a pic of a totally inappropriate bass for that setting. It might be based on looks or shape or graphics or sound or whatever - be creative!

I'll start with a Praise and Worship setting.
I think this might cause a bit of a problem...

Spector Alex Webster Blood Splatter bass.

I'm quoting myself. Apparently, this is what inspired this oh-so-full-of-potential-fun thread!

As has been said here on TB many times, any bass can be used for any style of music. What's most important when you're starting out is having an instrument that feels comfortable and sounds good to you. It also helps if you think it's cool, because you'll want to play it more.

Really?! Cool, 'cause I was getting a little nervous about showing up for my audition with a Monkees tribute band with this bass. Now I feel much more confident about the upcoming try-outs! Thanks, Lo! :roflmao:

If the bass makes bass noises and the band needs bass noises, I don't see the issue.

And don't praise and worship band members consume the symbolic blood of a god? What's wrong with symbolic blood on a bass?
Wow - you're reading more into it than I intended.
Lets try a different one.

It's a fun-for-all/somewhat-silly thread and definitely not meant to be taken too seriously. ;)

And as far as the Blood of Christ/Blood of the Lamb goes, your question makes me wonder if someone has ever used a pick made to resemble the Host/Body of Christ.

I'm one of those "ANY bass can be used in ANY setting" guys, but I never said it didn't look weird or out of place in certain situations. Weirdest such incident I ever encountered was while attending a talent show in high school, a girl played piano and sang a really epic, sappy love song, I don't remember which specifically. Anyway, she was accompanied by a short, portly fellow with greasy long hair and a t-shirt, playing a bronze series BC Rich Warlock, looked quite out of place to say the least. Even he had a look on his face like "What am I doing here? Maybe if I be still no one will notice."

The silly aspect went right over my head. I still think any bass is good for any gig, whether butterfly shaped or blood spattered.

I would totally rock that bass at a biker bar. The trick is to act like nothing unusual is going on.

When Daisy Rock first hit the scene I came dangerously close to buying the big yellow daisy bass for hard rock gigs. I'm not kidding.
