How many times have you read on TB that ANY bass can be used in ANY setting. Well I'm here to say, I don't think so.
So how about it TBers - name the genre or venue and post a pic of a totally inappropriate bass for that setting. It might be based on looks or shape or graphics or sound or whatever - be creative!
I'll start with a Praise and Worship setting.
I think this might cause a bit of a problem...

I'm not a praise and worship kind of guy. I prefer gospel music instead. However, I see nothing wrong with a graphic illustration of "The Blood Of The Lamb".
Idk - that looks pretty badass to me (i didn't say a bad word, I was referring to leo quan)

I'd have to admit that there's some merit to your point even though admittedly I'm one of those that would say you could use "almost" any bass in any setting.

If a bass is so ugly that everybody is completely distracted by it.....then that bass would definitely qualify as out of place and not welcome no matter how well it sounded.
I used this bass on a 9-week run of the truly awful stage musical "The Phantom of the Opry" in late 1991, which is supposed to take place in Nashville in the 1930s, and featured the orchestra on stage complete with jeans and bolo ties:
The theater went out of business before the end of the run, although I and my bass disavow any responsibility for that.

I did a butterscotch blonde '51 P build that I play with one of those thin leather straps - suppose it would look out of place for a New Wave revival.

In this case, I'd give the bass a pass on any responsibility. I think it lies in everything said from "…Phantom of the Opry" and on. :***:

I think it would work for Communion.

Maybe if you were to beat the hell out of the strings until you bleed maybe it'd work.

Yeah, it was a really bad show written by a college drama professor that apparently didn't know his limits. The theater was in dire straits by that time as we were in a town with a *huge* military presence, and they'd taken a bad financial hit with Desert Shield/Desert Storm sending a lot of folks overseas, and the theater owner took a gamble on a show that had never been performed professionally, largely because the licensing costs were next to nothing. I ended up getting stiffed some substantial money, but to her credit she did her damndest to get everyone paid as best she could.
Between this train wreck and the equally bad "It's a Wonderful Life" a couple of years prior, I have two world premieres to my name.
