I guess I took an inappropriate bass to church once. I used to own a matching "Blue Flower" P-bass and Strat. The guy that asked me to play that week played guitar and took the pair so he could play the Strat. He was pulled aside and instructed not to play it. I was the only bassist there with the only bass guitar, so...I rocked it. What's offensive about a flowery guitar?

Then I can't imagine what the issue was. Unless of course it was some kind of Satanic cult type church in which case a carefree happy flower bass would be inappropriate and something like this would fit in better...

So what's the worst bass for metal?

Any bass with a fancy shape like a destroyer or some of the more metal looking BC Rich basses like a warlock. They may look metal but they are less ergonomic.

First one's a Hembry, slightly Mouradiany with the curves, but pointier and painted with spray-in bedliner. As for the plaid basses, that was the second one I emplaidened. I kept trying to get it just right, but ended up selling all three attempts and keeping just a bass that's so inappropriate you can't mention its (fake) brand name on TB - it's the one in my avatar - and a relatively plain white one with a mirror pickguard, which I bought from a guy whose previous band told him it was inappropriate for blues.

We play a few country song covers and my Ric sounds the part with the neck pickup soloed. The look might not go over well with a full on cowboy-hat-and-boots-wearing band...
