Most memorable band name you've ever had

It's been nearly 39 years since our 1982 High School "Battle of the bands".
When I run into old classmates decades later, the first thing that comes out of their mouth is, "Bondage Brent and the Bullwhip band".

Have you had a band name that just stuck around a long time?
Did you have a High School Battle of the bands?

I put this Battle band together as a joke to compete and have a little fun.

The set list was;

Ricky James - Super Freak
The Clash - Rock at the Casbah
Rolling Stones - She's so cold
Joan Jett - I love Rock-n-Roll
Joan Jett - Crimson and clover

No we did not win because the students when crazy and rushed up to the stage in our school auditorium and someone lit the school flag on fire.
The school Principal stopped allowing any Battle of the bands for the next few years.
I still have that leather motorcycle jacket.

My normal High School band was called The Harbor Blues Band and we covered Hendrix, Cream, Skynyrd, Zeppelin, Beatles, etc..

King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizards.... that has an awesome sound to it

I was in a punk band in the late seventies called Ronnie and the Ray Guns. Fast forward to the eighties, It was Fellini’s Lunchbox, with the same guitar player. He and I are still in a band together, all these years later.

That's funny. In the early 80's I played in a reggae band in Santa Barbara called Ray Gun, and our tag line was "Santa Babylon: Reggae country, not Reagan country".

Great names! That is pretty impressive to be still with the same guitarist. I bet you guys have a ton of material to pick from.

A good friend and I did a music/comedy/nonsense one-off performance under the name of Godzilla vs The Smurfs.

Another good friend and I did a one-off performance under the name of The Velma Dinkley Experience. (This was a bass and drum duo; we both played in local punk bands but were jazz trained, so we used The Velma Dinkley Experience to scratch that itch).

More serious bands I've been in were called 11 A.M., Sullen Door, Kryovax, and Pool of Thorns. But, yeah, none of them had as cool of names as those two one-offs.

When my daughter was a just a kid, I would call her and my nephew "Velma and Gilgord". I always liked to give odd names and make up words.

Was in a band in the late 60s called "Head Cheese".......... three pieces, with the hottest guitarist in our county in Texas at the time. The name was kind of a joke, but many caught on. LOL

Memorable band name? Battle of the Bands?

When I was working at a music store in the early 80's I was asked to be a judge at a BOTB held at a local high school. Stages were set up in each corner of the high school gym where the event was held for each of the 4 competing groups.

One of the bands in the competition was named "Pneuma." They had a big lighted sign with their name on it on the stage floor in front of the band. However, the name was written in very fancy script making it somewhat hard to read.

As the band started playing a guy comes to me and says - "Enema - that's an odd name for a band!"

Yep, it was certainly memorable from that point forward.

"Ally McBeelzebub" was a one-off thing my wife and I did back in the 90s. We recorded an instrumental surf-punk song on my tape 4-track with a drum machine and 3 tracks of bass called "Quit Pinching my Assprin (I've Got a Splitting Headache)" I probably still have an MP3 of it somewhere.

The most memorable band I ever did on a regular basis was "Gun Totin' Meateaters". If you were in Austin between 2003 and 2006 you may have seen us play one of the clubs on Red River.
