Most memorable band name you've ever had

1964-65, The Etalons, East Los Angeles high school 'official' band ( played at rally's).
We played MoTown mostly. We wore matching jackets with black velvet collars.

coupla good players in that band....man, I'm old!

Been in lots of bands and had lots of different names for my main groups or fill in gigs.

A couple of years back I was asked to play bass for a charity show, one night only type gig. There was 4 bands all from the Legal community. The 3rd band on stage would be all Judges and people from the courthouse. The act after them was an original group all from the legal community. We were second on stage after a group did the opening. Us - 6 guys, (5 lawyers, one accountant) were on second. The lawyer whom I used to work with that put the band together wanted it to be an "epic song" show for this newly formed band. A few rehearsals and a few weeks go buy and we go live.
The event is called "Rock in Robes" and is all for charity. Big venue, $80.00 a ticket (remember all charity, even the venue was donated) and the place was packed.....
We go on second. Our set list

• Rockin in the Free World
• The Trooper
• Layla (the D&D version)
• Money
• War Pigs
• Freebird (yes, we did Freebird)

The Band name we went with - "The Well Hung Jury." May not have been the best or most correct name, but people got a laugh out of it and we wanted to keep the legal spin on it all. Was a fun night.

I was in a folk duo called Vowel Movement and an avant-punk band called Deep Sushi Jones

I have had many band names over 51 years but here are the most memorable band names I have had and I came up with all of these.

Stun View attachment 4205405 Daze - mid 1970s for about 2 years

Zabie Gazanger - 1977 for about 6 months

Lickety Split - 1978 - 1984 for 7 years

The Conniptions - 2001 - 2013 for 12-1/2 years

There was a band Lickety Split in the North East that I rememberer during that time.

Funny having a band name thread pop up - I just hooked up with an as-yet-nameless originals project. The guitarist is eager to give it a name, has some Sanskrit word from his yoga class, and... no. Just no. Give it time and let it take shape before jumping into a name.

Probably my favorite band name is the 2000s cover band I ran for a few years; "Six Cowards." We were a trio, so everyone immediately got hooked on it, talked about it and joked about it ("Six Cowards...but there's only three of them!"). Also, the self-deprecating vibe of "cowards" caught attention, and fit the vibe of the music we were doing, the opposite of the sort of swaggering one gets from prior generations of rock bands.

Way back when I was getting started, I played for a while with some guys who outvoted me to name the band "Parabolic Wave." They thought it was terribly clever and cool. Then after a few weeks one came in and said, "hey, when you tell people about the band, does anyone else find that people are confused by the name?" Uhh... yeah. That's why I voted against it.

And for the record, King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard (singular) is a cool act.

I watched the full video you posted here of King gizzard and the lizard wizards. I love it! The 1st song reminded me of Deep Purple - Highway Star with essence of Zappa and Canned Heat. 2nd song like Moody Blues and everything awesome mixed together. Thank you guys for turning me on to this great trippy sensation!!!!!!!! Very cool

It's been nearly 39 years since our 1982 High School "Battle of the bands".
When I run into old classmates decades later, the first thing that comes out of their mouth is, "Bondage Brent and the Bullwhip band".

Have you had a band name that just stuck around a long time?
Did you have a High School Battle of the bands?

I put this Battle band together as a joke to compete and have a little fun.

The set list was;

Ricky James - Super Freak
The Clash - Rock at the Casbah
Rolling Stones - She's so cold
Joan Jett - I love Rock-n-Roll
Joan Jett - Crimson and clover

No we did not win because the students when crazy and rushed up to the stage in our school auditorium and someone lit the school flag on fire.
The school Principal stopped allowing any Battle of the bands for the next few years.
I still have that leather motorcycle jacket.

My normal High School band was called The Harbor Blues Band and we covered Hendrix, Cream, Skynyrd, Zeppelin, Beatles, etc..

For the record, I've been a fan of the giz since my son turned me on to them several years ago. Try their "Flying Microtonal Banana" disc. Special guitars and basses with extra frets for those in-between notes.

As for bands I've been in, two come to mind. 80's punk band called The H-Roids ("rock and roid") and a later classic rock cover band called Exit because we wanted our name over every door in every bar in town.

My all-time favorite was a band I saw in 1980 or so when I was working at U.C. Irvine, Department of Psychbiology: The Neurotoxins.
