I think the top 3 bass models (in terms of usage among players) are
1. Fender Precision
2. Fender Jazz
3. Musicman Stingray

and I would say Rickenbacker might be number 4 or at least tied with several others. This would definitely be true if you count all the copies of precisions and jazz basses from several different manufacturers other than Fender (i.e. Sadowsky, etc.)

My "other", though probably my #1, is a DiPinto Galaxie 4-string in gold metalflake. I love it! Mods include new pots and a Bill Lawrence P-46 with bass Q-filter.

The results of the poll, so far, confirm my (admitted) bias.

35% of all working bassists play a Jazz variant (Fender, Lakland, Sadowsky, etc).

35% of all working bassists play some sort of Precision variant.

Everything else, added together, covers the remaining 30%.
